To throw you all a curveball! Here is a photo from my New Year's vacation.

^Well architecturally it looks like the US, IMO.

 

The beach looks too big to not be on the coast (or at least I can't think of a beach on a lake that big).

 

Terrain wise, I can't imagine anywhere on the East Coast or Gulf Coast that looks like that.

 

I can't see any palm trees, so I'm guessing it's not southern California.

 

So as far as I can tell through my series of educated guesses that leaves us with Northern California through the Canadian border. (I suppose it could be just north of the border in the Vancouver region)

I'm guessing Astoria.
