lol... I like the title of the photo.  The first town that jumps into my head is Nepal.

Not Nepal, though a good guess. Another part of the world altogether.

 

First clue ... This city has experienced a population explosion (it has more than quadrupled since 1950), making it not only the largest city in its country but one of the largest in its continent.

Wow!  I was thinking super-nearby mountains with snowcaps, and few things are steeper than the west side of the Pacific plate subduction zone...didn't know it was that big, though!
