The downtown photos are from May 2005 and the final two from November '05.  Did CMH-Bolton over downtown in my rental Skyhawk.

Awesome photos!  Does anyone know where the airport extension will be?  Will it be a new building or expand off the current one somehow?

Too poor to fly right now.  This flying shit is expensive and dangerous.

CMH_Downtown will write you a novel about CMH shortly, but go here for all the detailed PDFs (at the bottom of the page).

Here's just a few more random photos from in-and-around Columbus.  Sorry they all look dark and weird, it was hazy and my Photoshop skills are terrible:

Coming into Bolton a bit too high (looks like an old postcard, doesn't it?):

Who wants to mess with a grandmother in that sort of way, anyways?

No, what is that basket?

^Corp Hdqrts of Longaberger in Newark. They make pretty classy/expensive baskets which were really popular in the late 90's, but now the company is struggling financially. I think their factory and Homestead (country shopping center thing) are in Dresden.

If they go out of business I don't know who they plan ot sell that commercial building when it looks like a damn basket.

^Ohio Department of Mental Health?

The first picture makes Columbus look really small because it looks like it just kind of stops.

And then look right next door at Vet's Memorial to see how not to do it.

Whaddya mean? Vet's Memorial offers plenty of waterfront parking. VERY Detroit.

Was that sarcasm? I just think COSI's building looks really cheap, and I've been in there...they don't really use much of the internal space. The riverfront isn't that bad, it just isn't nearly as scenic as Cincinnati.

^ The city makes great use of the waterfront space during festivals.  They set up a stage at the base of the huge steps so everyone can see the bands play.  The pathways are lined with vendors too.  It looks cool from the air too!  :)

Equate Genoa Park (COSI's "park") with Sawyer Point in Cincinnati.

Both are horrendous spaces with good usage of steps going to the river.

Really good photos of downtown.  The riverfront is much improved over the last few years, and should look even better with the new bridges and the infill around the arena.

From the air you can clearly see the hodge-podge that CMH is, like all but the newest airports.  I never understood the spatula shaped parking garage exit with all the tool booths.

Cool Photos

Gorgous pictures.  It's about time someone posted some aireal photos of the city.  It's gourgeous, but can do without all the parkings lots.  More buildings, I say!  I love the basket building, I think it is one of the most unique buildings in the country.  Not a huge fan of COSI or Vets Memorial.  COSI kind of creates more of a wall that acts as a barrior between Franklinton and The Scioto River.  Vets Memerial i think should be torn down and replaced with a new Vets Memorial Baseball Field.  It would be so awesome to go kyaking in the river on game day and collect the home run balls!
