Posted August 30, 200618 yr http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=2851488008488190547&q=Rendezvous&hl=en This is link to a 9-minute, 1978 movie by French director Claude Lelouch. He attached a camera to the bumper of a Ferrari 275GTB and had a friend, an F1 driver, speed through the streets of Paris from Port Duaphine to Sacre Couer. They hit speeds up to 140mph, ran red lights, had no permits and basically just let it hang out. The first (and only) time Lelouch previewed this in public, he was arrested. He has never revealed the name of the driver.
August 30, 200618 yr The sound of that engine is awesome, especially that whir when he lets off the gas after 5 or 6K. I have ridden in a Porche, it does the same thing but obviously the engine isn't a 12 cylinder and the engine is in the back.
August 30, 200618 yr I watched it again, it is amazing how little the core of Paris has changed since 1978 which is actually a good thing since Paris is about as perfect as it gets. I was there two months ago and can't wait to go back. Here are some of the landmarks you see in his video and some of the photos I took when I was there: Arc De Triomphe Les Champs Elysees Avenue Here is the Pyrimiad he approaches on Les Champs Elysees Avenue Here is the fountain he almost hit Here is the road he continues on (notice the fountain to the left) Here is the Louvre He is the Sacre Couer View from Sacre Couer, where the movie ends
August 31, 200618 yr From what I understand the best thing about Paris is the poor and rough areas are outside the city (i.e the suburbs). I believe there even were riots recently in the suburbs, how ironic!
August 31, 200618 yr The best thing? The suburbs of Paris are awful. I am guessing you are saying that tongue in cheek? ;) European cities are amazing, I wish all slums were in the suburbs and not the city like American Cities.
