Posted September 2, 200618 yr Y-CityGuy mentioned this in ColDay's amazingly gorgeous thread, Appalachian Ohio in February, but I had never seen a picture of it until I ran across this link: http://rickleephoto.blogspot.com/2006/09/touch-mothmans-butt.html ...can't direct link the pictures, and I don't want to steal them, but that rocks...gotta get my own shots...
September 3, 200618 yr That's great that they put that in what appears to be the middle of a city and not somewhere off in the hills! It's such an unconventional public statue, chrome metal with the red eyes. If only they could remake the movie-"Alien vs. Predator vs. Mothman" :-D

September 4, 200618 yr The Mothman is the most interesting thing to ever happen to the state of WV. I have a hard time believing it's true though. If he really was from WV he wouldn't have so many teeth.
September 4, 200618 yr The Mothman is the most interesting thing to ever happen to the state of WV. I have a hard time believing it's true though. If he really was from WV he wouldn't have so many teeth. the sad thing is that I remember a study from a few years ago (monte might remember) that confirmed that fact. (the teeth part)
September 4, 200618 yr why the beast looks just like in the movie. whata surprise - heh. i agree with corner tho, what an unconventional statue to put in the middle of a town. that's really cool and more things like that should be done. can you imagine an unsuspecting 12yo kid driving in and seeing that? i would have gone berzerk with joy. otoh, a 4yo would probably scream and cry. so that's good artwork for ya -- can't please'm all.
September 4, 200618 yr ^What culture could a town like that possibly have? Anything to dehomogenize it is an evolutionary step for the town and that can only be a positive thing.
September 5, 200618 yr Oh, Yea!! That statue is quite the sight! It is right in the middle of the downtown, and the people there are quite proud of it. If you ever go check it out, I suggest eating at Malinda's, a small diner down the street, awesome food!
