Posted September 5, 200618 yr HAWAII OR RIVERFEST? Yes it is true, I turned down an opportunity to go to Hawaii for two weeks on a work assignment so I could be in Cincinnati for Riverfest weekend. After two trips to Oahu this past year and plans already set to spend Sunday on the Cincinnati riverfront with friends family, there are no regrets. This is the third year we attended the festivities and every time I see it I am amazed. Cincinnati easily puts on one of the best fireworks shows in the country. Having the largest fireworks festival on Labor Day also makes for a more comfortable day. I don’t know what the attendance estimates are for this year’s show but I wouldn’t be surprised if it topped 500,000 people on the riverfronts of Cincinnati & NKY. While I wouldn’t trade the front row seats I had for the fireworks, I discovered that I was too close for my camera. My lens only goes down to 36mm so the fireworks tended to overpower my shots. Stand by for ColDayMan's & Nati Joe's photos, they were right next to me with better lenses. Alas... Looks like Newport is being bombed 36MM + frontrow seats = overpowering fireworks shots By the sound of this boat, it had some serious power What is a Cincinnati festival without a game of Cincinnati Cornhole? A visit from the "Night of the Living Dead"? A patchwork of tarps, blankets & sheets - anything to claim your spot. Rubber Duck Regatta - roundup... Hope you enjoyed the photos and if you weren't able to make it to the riverfront, you missed one hell of a show.
September 5, 200618 yr Great shots. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
September 5, 200618 yr Very nice photos. I had a blast at Riverfest. That was by far the best fireworks display I have ever seen. Just one more thing to love about Cincinnati.

Man, you always seem to put some kind of disclaimer at the beginning of your photo threads. And then you proceed to post dozens of photos that consistently kick some serious ass.

And man, this is a true keeper:
September 5, 200618 yr Great pics once again! Excellent job! I had to laugh that the Kentucky side beat out the Cincinnati side in cheering--by a long shot.
September 5, 200618 yr Thanks for the kind words. I had to laugh that the Kentucky side beat out the Cincinnati side in cheering--by a long shot. Really? My daughter asked about this, she wanted to know if the Ohio side won. Do you have a link to the story?
September 5, 200618 yr I had to laugh that the Kentucky side beat out the Cincinnati side in cheering--by a long shot. It's probably because the Cincinnati sides booing got mixed in with the Kentucky cheering.
September 5, 200618 yr Great shots! One of these days I'd like to actually see these fireworks. Until then, your (and others') wonderful photos will have to suffice!
September 5, 200618 yr On television, Kentucky definitely kicked the snot out of Ohio in the cheering contest. But I think that was mostly due to very poor microphone placement. You could hear maybe two people yelling, then a soft background cheer. On the KY side, you heard the whole crowd. Just poor placement and thus no sound balance.
September 5, 200618 yr ^While I figured that was the case, I wonder how many people at home thought Kentucky really won. Monte, there was no story, just my observation on WKRC. BTW, does anyone know what is up with WKRC, now they have a "my64" logo??
September 5, 200618 yr People in Kentucky are very good at being loud and obnoxious...I wouldn't be surprised if they won :]
September 5, 200618 yr BTW, does anyone know what is up with WKRC, now they have a "my64" logo?? WKRC produces a 30 minute 10 PM newscast for channel 64. 64 is now "My Network TV" because UPN and WB became CW. Channel 12 carries CW on its digital channel, meaning that you need a digital tuner, cable, or DirecTV to see it. So 64 picked up this crappy network affiliation that's basically two horrible shows, 5 days a week.
