"What neighborhood does Ameri-Con Homes Ashbury Towers development belong in?  One of my friends was looking to buy there and was calling it Ohio City, but I thought that was Clark-Fulton or Stockyards south of 90?"

That would be Stockyards, and Clark-Fulton is east of that.

tremont vs. ohio city

which?

wow loaded question. I think both are fabulous, but have a OC bias in part b/c I do nearly all my shopping at the westside market. Both are incredibly walkable. Is it just me neighbors, or is OC a little rougher around the edges than tremont? I live in the west flats which is technically OC, and pretty close to heart of OC/market area, as well as tremont and downtown. I spend a lot of time in all of these neighborhoods. Large yards are not the norm, but these neighborhoods (OC and Tremont) along with Shaker Square, meet criteria for walking to restaurants, cafes , coffee shops and pubs more than any other in Cleveland in my opinion.  If you have a bike or scooter, you could easily park the car for days on end (I have not driven a car but once in the last month) . Like others have said you need to visit and really pound the pavement to see what works for you. Welcome!

Ohio City is definetley a bit rougher around the edges compared to Tremont since they knocked down the Valley View Housing Projects on W7th.  But from the statistics I've heard, around 35% of the housing units in Ohio City are public housing units.  A pretty ridiculous percentage.  Yet I still prefer Ohio City because of the public tranportation connections (maybe why OC is perceived as rough), the Markets (West Side, Bier, Dave's) and ABC The Tavern.

I'm a fan of neighborhoods with a little dirt under the fingernails.

Just move to Shaker Square!

....that's all!  :-D

^My wife and sister-in-law had a friend in town this weekend. We went to SSqu for lunch. He was amazed. Pretty awesome place.

it's a strong possibility we will! i have to see it first of course. i grew up in mentor, and can't believe i haven't ever been there. i must have at some point, but don't remember. this area is still currently winning over tremont/ohio city and lakewood. ;)
