Posted September 24, 200618 yr So folks, I may be moving to SF. I have a job offer on the table... So anyone want to buy my place? :)
September 24, 200618 yr Hah, good point. I'd like to point out that my place is fine... however, yea, MED ain't quite done yet. I'll swing ya a deal tho. Can't beat the location.
September 24, 200618 yr The job is in SOMA. No idea where I'm going to live, however. I'm open to suggestions. I am serious about selling and/or renting my place however. Here are some pics: http://www.mark-grace.com/g2/main.php?g2_view=core.ShowItem&g2_itemId=2753
September 25, 200618 yr Generally, if you want cheapish, go to the Sunset District or Lower Richmond. You can get some cheapish deals in SOMA but highly unlikely. Or if you could take Daly City or South San Francisco and simply take BART or MUNI in, that'd be a decent option. Fill a flask with equal parts scotch, vodka, brandy and gin - take a few swigs to prepare yourself for the sticker shock. Beyond that, good luck! :-) clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
September 25, 200618 yr So, after all you've told us about your place ... you are coming on here trying to sell your condo?!?!? lol ... you kill me, Mark! ... So, how much are you asking? ;)
September 25, 200618 yr Oh, I forgot ... Dude, why in the hell would you leave Cincy for SF!?! ;) ... Seriously, we are going to miss you!
September 25, 200618 yr Oh, I forgot ... Dude, why in the hell would you leave Cincy for SF!?! ;) ... Seriously, we are going to miss you! Aw, thanks. Yea... it is sort of funny isn't it? The fact is the MED still has a lot of work to do, and they are terrible. However, the place is still nice and you can't beat the location. The problems with the common areas will be taken care of (by the COA if not MED), it's just a matter of when. I'm thinking around $235k or so.
September 25, 200618 yr Hah! Well, it's not a done deal folks... I just have an offer at this point, I need to see if I can make the financials work out.
September 27, 200618 yr Cincinnati's loss is our gain! Get ready for some serious sticker shock when looking for housing here. There are still affordable rentals in the City, but they take some searching. Condos are being built gangbusters all over the place, but the prices...YIKES! Soma is a nice place to work and has come a long way in the last few years. And the East Bay offers quite a few bargains if you aren't crazy about living in SF. Hope it works out for you. If I can be of help, let me know.
September 27, 200618 yr I'm living in SF right now and absolutely love it. I must say though, that it's been quite the culture shock moving from Oakley to the Mission. After about a week of adjustments, this place feels like home. I personally would advise against the East Bay, but it all comes down to preferences. Budget factors notwithstanding, there is definitely a neighborhood for everyone here--dirty/clean, happening/sedate, rich enclave/diverse communitya, warm/cold, old/young, trendy/family, etc. I'd be more than happy to offer suggestions from a cincy to SF perspective.

Thanks - I go out to meet with some folks tommorrow. If I end up accepting/getting the job, I'll be picking your brain.
October 2, 200618 yr Well folks, they offered me the gig... and I think I have to take it... do adios to Cincinnati. I'll miss it here, but it's time to try something new. So... if anyone knows someone who wants to rent me a room in SF short term while I get settled, lemme know :).
