Posted October 2, 200618 yr Well, there are a lot of issues to discuss with this one.. Monday October 2, 2006 Baker Hostetler search may alter office landscape Law firm’s massive space needs could spell end to decade-plus construction drought downtown By STAN BULLARD 6:00 am, October 2, 2006 Article Removed
October 2, 200618 yr ^I've been hearing that B and H may jump to Flats for over a year, it will be interesting to see if and where they build.
October 2, 200618 yr hmm, I had also heard that an existing downtown tenant was going to go to the Flats. I wish that the Atrium building could get a tenant. If not, then I think that it would be best for BH to help some other new development ( i.e. Stark--so that he could get the financing done sooner).
October 2, 200618 yr I think the Public Square location would make more sense for them. Given the amount of litigation they do, proximity to the Justice Center and the Federal Courthouse should be a priority. Also a Public Square location would enable more workers to utilize RTA.
October 2, 200618 yr How about failed courthouse tower, the thing that was going to be a condo or hotel or whatever. That would be a nice spot to hem some type of tower there. Close to rta stops close to justice center, and I honestly dont think that old tower will ressurect
October 3, 200618 yr Cannot imagine Baker landing in the Flats. Among other things, too far away from other firms. Curious about the Forest City proposal and why Baker was not interested.
October 3, 200618 yr I've heard from someone with knowledge of the proposal that said the proposed design of the Forest City plan was extremely poor. Now I'm sure that may not have been the only problem in the proposal, but I'm sure it didn't help.
October 3, 200618 yr This is really exciting news. I personally don't like the idea of the East Bank for law offices. So many office space (existing or potential) around Public Square and in the Warehouse District makes more sense just because it is within better walking distance to the courthouses. The Flats East Bank office building would be better to draw in a new consumer products company or something from outside the region.
July 19, 200717 yr Anybody have any news ("or gossip" or even "speculation") on what Bakers current relocation plans are?
July 19, 200717 yr The I last heard was that Baker is either going to the Warehouse District lot overlooking the Flats East Bank (corner of W. 10th & Main) or to the BP Building.
July 19, 200717 yr The I last heard was that Baker is either going to the Warehouse District lot overlooking the Flats East Bank (corner of W. 10th & Main) or to the BP Building. I highly doubt there's enough room for them in the BP building now. I recall the PD article a few months back that had BPs vacancy rate below or near 20%
July 19, 200717 yr If BP is out, then that means new construction, right? I don't know, I'm not baker!
July 19, 200717 yr If BP is out, then that means new construction, right? Probably, unless the county is putting Ameritrust back on the market :-P "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
July 24, 200717 yr I believe stark will be able to start to build if he can get Eaton or Baker to sign with him
July 24, 200717 yr ^I've gotten the sense that Stark's project is ready to roll with/without them. :-D
