Demise of East Toledo bridge opens new vistas

The railroad bridge that for almost 80 years physically separated East Toledo from the rest of the city has been removed, opening up the view from both sides of the Maumee River - and erasing one more reminder of what made the east side different.

Interesting, prehaps a similar result could be seen if they train bridges that cut the south end of downtown/Webster Station off in Dayton were elimiated. Of course, these are beautiful bridges as well, especially after the paint job they just recieved.

this is the one into east toledo right? i always thought that was a stupid place for a bridge, it really blocked off the nabe from downtown. you got used to it tho. still, glad its gone at last.
