Posted October 5, 200618 yr Are there any daytime tours of the Cincinnati area? I know about the Architraks tour but that is only on the weekends (Thanks Ballhatguy for the information). My parents are visiting us October 28 - November 4. They are driving up from Louisiana and will be looking for activities to do during the day while my husband and I work. I've given them a lot of suggestions to do around the Dayton and north of Dayton area (Young's, Yellow Springs Bike Trail, Ohio Caverns and Piatt castles in West Liberty, plus ColDayMan will be giving us a Dayton tour hopefully). But I want my parents to see Cincinnati and the wonderful things I saw on my tour.....Carew Tower, Stadiums, cool houses in the hills, Graeters, etc. etc. Is there another tour group that offers day-time tours of the Cincy area? My parents would be willing to pay for the tour. The best days for them would be October 31, or November 1, 2, or 3, probably between 10 am and 2pm. Do you know of any private tour guide or group that would fit that type of schedule? Like I said, my parents will pay for it. I know my dad will really enjoying seeing glimpses of the stadiums and the riverfront. I appreciate any help or suggestions you can give me. I always have to play "tour guide" and "travel agent" to my family when they visit us and I'm still learning myself. I wish the weekend would work out but we have other plans during the weekends with them. Let me know if you have any suggestions. My parents will have a GPS so they will get around okay, but i don't want to send them into Cincinnati with no knowledge of the history or architecture. It's always so much better if you have a guide to point things out to you. Columbus and Clevelanders, don't feel left out. They want to see your cities too but will have less time there to visit. I think they want to do the real touristy things there like see the Columbus zoo and aquarium, then the Rock'n'roll museum in Cleveland. I've also made a reservation at the Dayton spaghetti warehouse for us all to see the October mystery dinner theatre. I've never been to one of those interactive mystery plays before. It might be cheesy or it might be really fun. This one is about ghosts and Halloween stuff. (On another note, It's good to be back here reading and posting again. I disappeared for awhile when we moved and were getting settled into our house. But that is finally calmed down and the boxes are all gone. We love our new home and neighborhood. I'm really enjoying watching all my backyard trees change colors.)
October 5, 200618 yr Damn, how long of a drive is that? I assume you are referring to the drive from Louisiana....it's about 900 miles from my parents' house to my house. They are stopping a little more than half-way to spend the night, somewhere in Tennessee I believe. [Check your email/quote] - thanks, I did. I'll send you a reply.
October 8, 200618 yr Well if they are coming to Cleveland and don't have much time, they should take the Lolly the Trolley Tour. http://www.lollytrolley.com/
October 8, 200618 yr I meant to hunt this up earlier...check out this thread: http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php?topic=9999.0 I called up Larry Brown, who offers Cincinnati tours, and he was a really nice guy... Sorry I didn't find this sooner!
October 9, 200618 yr Thanks, actually I think that BallHatGuy is going to take time out of his busy schedule to give a lunchtime tour to my folks and me on Friday, Nov. 4th. If he can't, then he's going to give me some suggestions as to how I can get around and show them a few highlights. They are leaving the next day so they want to keep it fairly light - about 3 hours or less. They have a jam-packed week of activities scheduled. I'm jealous since they will be going to places in Ohio that I haven't been to yet. I'll live vicariously through them and their photos.
