Posted October 7, 200618 yr The last several months have been as busy personally and professionally as I have been in many years. As a result I had to really let this little habit/hobby go for a bit, but I promise to work hard to make up for lost time. I have missed UrbanOhio a lot. So 'back in the day', and I mean 'way back', before air conditioners, even before fans - staying cool in the downtown basin was tough to do in the hot sticky Cincy summers. About all one could do was sit and sleep on the veranda (down home it's called a porch!) There are quite a few remaining in OTR, here are some of them, plus just some other stuff I have snapped over the last few weeks. I'll just start with this one, because I think it's cool. Harley-Davidson should pay me for this one! just wanted to show you the new locale for the "Know Theatre Tribe" I was told on an Architrek tour that Union soldiers stayed here beautiful! coolin' it on the roof is another option missing neat chance to look inside these amazing rehabs in progress just some 'new' hidden history that caught my eye (I love this stuff) absolutely! note the great iron work not a veranda - but one of the most unusual cornices/friezes/brackets/eaves WHATEVER that I have seen lousy mary kay house hiding on me keep cool! more soon...
