Cost of powering common household appliances could curl your hair

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

Six hours of TV each day will add $42 to your annual electric bill.

Four hours of daily Internet surfing? $38.

Ten hours of nightly shuteye on the old water bed? $124.

Those prices, which vary depending on individual appliances, are quotes from a new online calculator from American Electric Power. The utility’s customers now can determine how much they spend to power household appliances, to heat and cool their homes and to keep the lights on. They also can learn how they might cut some of those costs.

Hmm...www.aepohio-.com didn't connect to anything, and I can't find a handy analysis link thing on www.aepohio.com...

AEP should offer rebates for customers who buy fuel-efficient appliances, she said. Migden-Ostrander also said that Ohioans? pay on average between $46 and $93 a year in "vampire" costs from leaving items such as televisions, computers and video-game consoles plugged in when they?re turned off.

Generation Service Charge...

Transmission Service Charge...

Distribution Charge...

Customer Charge...

Transition Charge...

Yup. AEP knows from "vampire costs."
