Cleveland Press to Digitize Past Articles and Make them Available For Free

Featured Replies

Holy Moley - that's fantastic!  The only thing that would be better would be digitizing the whole paper, not just articles, and not just articles on certain topics.  I'd love to see editorials and letters to the editor from the 1930's or something...the little stuff, the day-to-day...some day...

Well, considering you can only go back to 1986 with the online archives for the Columbus Dispatch and Cleveland Plain Dealer, I wouldn't complain too loud.

Oh, that was in no way a complaint at all...just a wish!  This is definitely way cool...

In the CSU library, you can go through the filing drawers to look up the actual articles from the Cleveland Press. They are categorized by subject. A few years back I did a paper on Public Square. I had a a folders worth of articles that they let me photocopy that went dated from the 30's to before it closure.

Yeah I was in the CSU special collections library before also. Some of its microfiche, some of its just old newspaper. They really need to do something about the old paper ones, I accidentialy tore up some of the paper ones.

Columbus has something similar, except one would go to the public library's main branch.

I never really tried to see if OSU would have anything, I guess, with the onset of Thompson Library's rehab, one would go to the Journalism library now.
