True. They just head to Oakland (California, that is).

Okay folks, I checked with Great Lakes Brewing and they said that we have two options.

Option 1: This option involves a set-in-stone headcount, a One Check policy, a 20% automatic gratuity, a credit card to "hold" the reservation, a 48-hour cancellation policy with a $15 per person fee. I totally understand the need for GLBC to have this but needless to say, we will be going with Option 2.

Option 2: A call-ahead seating policy.

I will call GLBC around noon on Saturday and ask for a reservation for about a dozen people at 1:00pm. The reservation will be under "Urban".

That should give them time to accomodate our group. If we have more than a dozen people show up, no big whoop - we can sit at scattered tables, play musical chairs and mingle.

If however, GLBC is completely swamped or we have to wait three hours for a table, our contingency site will be the Old Angle Tavern, which is about two blocks north on West 25th. http://www.oldangletavern.com/

thank you for your time and effort Mr. MayDay

I like option 2 ... it a lot less rigid, thanks for putting this together . we can always grab a beer upstairs and hang out in the cellar if there is no room or  a wait for a table.

I am looking forward to meeting you all!

I have to go to DC then LA tomorrow and Friday and I hope to return Saturday early enough to meet up.

boo work, yay beer!

I will be bringing MarkyMark48 from Chi-town. He is an expat. Rag on him mercilessly to get him to move back here.

Morrow County? Yeesh, and I thought *I* was heading out into the sticks!

Remind me to explain, again, why my parents haven't left Morrow County after 23 1/2 years, at the "Christmas Mixer."

i have to bail out of this.

Enjoy all and have a brew for me!

Happy Holidays all!

Thanks for arranging this MayDay, I had a great time meeting everyone and enjoying some fresh GL brew!

So who showed up?  How was it?  blah blah blah

I was there.  So it was great.

I wanted to come, but I missed my flight, got bumped on another...and as of this very minute...I've still not made it back to Cleveland!  ARGH!  :whip:

I was there.  So it was great.

A pity.

ColDayMan wasn't there, so it was great.

Actually, about 14 people showed up. Good food. Good company. West 25th was busy with shoppers and people strolling around. The market was jammed. Very nice! Went to Tower City afterwards to finish up my Christmas shopping at FYE. Good crowds there, too.

I was there to talk smak about you ColDay.  :-P

we enjoyed ourselves and it was nice to see Mayday, KJP, and X again, (as well as meeting new folks)and I am sorry I did not really get to meet or talk to everyone. Would it be crazy to do this in a pot luck format sometime? (we can always bring growlers or bottles of local brew!).

The pot lock sounds like a good idea. My party room, atop my seven-story condo building, is available. The party room has a fridge, stove/oven, windows on three sides, and a great view of the Gold Coast. If you go out on the sun deck on the south side of the building, you can see downtown better (fewer tall trees blocking the view). Between the party room and the sun deck is an indoor pool.

If anyone is interested, I will host an upcoming gathering. Kinda neat to go swimming when it's 10 degrees outside. Maybe we could call it UrbanOhio's "Figi in February" or "Maui in March."

Here's a nighttime view from my building's party room:

I regret that I wasn't able to meet up with you folks on Saturday.  My family decided to have Christmas dinner on the 23rd instead of Christmas day.

If anyone is available Thursday or Friday, I'd be open to grabbing lunch or a beer, as long as it's transit-accessible!

^I'll be in the office this Friday (200 Public Square)

Dude, the view is right at my building.  (The sort of German chateau looking one approximately center.)

I'll wave the next time I'm strolling by.

I'm sorry.  I was addressing my brother Chris.  Now go back to your godly duties, or whatever it is you do.

I didn't know you had a brother named Chris.

Sounds like it was a good time.  I also had hoped to make it, and was looking forward to meeting the other "urban geeks", but there was just too much ground to cover with too short amount of time (the hangover didnt help either).  Next time I'll gladly forgo the family and excessive drinking the night before...

No excuse! A hangover didn't stop Pope from attending! What a trooper, that guy! (Of course, he's pretty experienced in functioning with hangovers...)

Here I was worried about bad first impressions, yet several may have been in the same boat...  but were they able to stand up on their own....  I guess I could have found somebody to escort me in.

i honestly wish i could remember a forum meet I've attended sober.

CRAP!!!!!  I was there, but had no idea where to look...so I just sat at the bar and drank myself stoopit!  I have been computerless for about two weeks now and didn't know where to look when I was there (using lakewood library comp right now)  I hope to meet everyone at the next one!

Or you could have asked the employee at the front door where the UrbanOhio group was. Other late arrivals were able to find us that way.

I didn't know there was a formal type thing....I thought everyone was just meeting up...like I said before...haven't been online for a while so I didn't know there was an actual space set aside...either way,  I missed out!
