On Sunday, I took the ColDayMan Dayton tour along with my husband and my parents.  It was awesome!  I told him he just needed to give us a 2 hour overview.  The tour was about four hours long and we still didn't cover everything.  I've lived in Dayton for almost a year now and have never been to the areas and places that he took us.  It was an awesome tour!  Thanks so much ColDayMan!  You really know your stuff.  We all learned so much about the city, its history, architecture, and people.

The thing that impressed me most when I stumbled upon this website and forum was the passion and excitement that you people have for the cities in which you live.  That passion becomes contagious to me too.

I wish I had pictures to post but I was just taking it all in and listening instead of snapping photos.

On Friday, we all take the BallHatGuy lunch tour of Cincinnati.  BallHatGuy, will you be showing us Mount Adams? ColDayMan insists that you take us there or that we go there before we leave the city.

Thanks again ColDayMan.  My parents, husband, and I all really enjoyed it.  We got more than we hoped for actually :).

Can I come to the Cincinnati tour!? Friday I think I'm going on a date so I don't know.

I noticed the passion too, New Orleans Lady :] Whenever I start talking about cities to "regular people" everything I say flies right over their head so it's nice to come here and talk to people that are interested in the same thing.

Excellent, I'm glad to hear you finally got the tour!  The ColDayMan Tour™ showed my sister and I things we hadn't seen despite living in the area for half our lives.  Good tour from a good tour guide, even if [insert sarcastic anti-ColDay comment here].

So was it anything like the tour he gave me of Columbus?

^^Okay RV, that jokes has expired. ;)

Much like ColDay's Saturn.

As long as ColDay is around, that joke will never get old.

What is the ColDayMan Dayton tour and when is the next one?  And New Orleans Lady - can you share some of your favorite points of interest?

ColDayMan - is there another thread with any pictures of your previous "tours"?

Go to the City Photos page and in the search box type in "Dayton" and "ColDayMan"

You should get his Dayton threads.

Also try the same thing with the Dayton suburbs/neighborhoods (use their actual names) with Jeff and PigBoy if you want to learn about Dayton.

I guess my favorite points of interest were:

(1) Seeing University Rowe and hearing about architect Olmsted. I enjoyed seeing his crazy grid lines and no uniformity.

(2) Seeing Woodlawn Cemetary and hearing about the glaciers that once were in the area.

(3) Doing a lifestyles of the rich in Dayton" driving tour.  We saw Martin Sheen's house,  Rob Lowe's house, and former homes of Rick James, Prince, and more.

Other highlights was a downtown walking tour, North Dayton Jewish and German influences, Bosnian area near Woodlawn, etc. etc. etc.

It was all interesting and ColDayMan captivates you with his endless knowledge on the area.  He is really great.

I don't think he does regular organized tours.  You just let him know that you want him to take you on a tour and he'll look at his schedule and let you know if and when he can.  He drives in from Columbus just to give you a tour of Dayton.  To thank him, we gave him a donation to the Urbanohio site and also fed him some Graters ice cream.  :)

Thanks for the info - I live in Downtown Dayton and I'm always interested in hearing about my adopted city...

Like I said in person, you're certainly welcome and your family was wonderful.  Some of the nicest people in the world and good times.  Hope you enjoyed the tour!

Yep, that sounds about right!

Sorry if it doesn't include CORBO's for an hour.

BAH!

You should talk, Westerville.

Magyar won't be around for long if it continues...

Eh, photos I take on the main page are general areas I tour people.  It depends on the person and day, I guess, of where I take them.  If they want a grit tour, then I give them a grit tour.  If they want more of a general tour, then I give them a New Orleans Lady tour.  Just a simple PM and *bam*
