Where are some places around OH to get a good donut?

I want mostly local places, but chains, especially Tim Hortons and DD, (no KK),  are welcome as well.

BTW, are there any Tim Horton's located in OH?

Bill's Donuts in Centerville (Dayton area) serves a great donut!

Jack Frost Donuts in Old Brooklyn (Cleveland) are the Best!  It is located on the corner of Fulton/Pearl across from "Don's Brooklyn Chevrolet".

Donut Connection on Memphis/Fulton (also O.B.) aint bad either.  Great sunday morning talk with the old timers there!

I second Bill's Donuts in Centerville

Also, growing up, I was always a fan of Charlie's Pastry Shop in Celina, but it's been quite awhile since I've been there...so I don't remember if I really like the donuts or if it's more a nostalgic things, as they have been around forever.

gosh... there was/is one on high street across from the OSU main campus...  can't remember the name...  must be getting too old...  ouch...

Bill has retired, but the donuts are still good at Bills.  The place as a big reputation in the Dayton area, though there are a lot of local donut places around, it seems.

It's headquartered here, just an FYI.

I miss Fred's Donuts in Fairfield... it closed.  oh well.

Spudnuts!  Locations in Rocky River (on Center Ridge Rd), Berea, and Mentor. "The upper crust of the donut world"

You're right. It mergered with Wendy's in 1995. It stayed a separate entity though. The same year it entered the U.S. market; according to the site, I just found:

But, apparently it got its start in Hamilton, Ontario in 1964.

Interesting

Schuler's in Springfield is a regular bakery but their glazed donuts & chocolate covered-cream filled donuts are, uh, good.

Busken's is good

Ridge Donut Shop in Pleasent Ridge is amazing.

Meek's Pastry on Linwood Ave in Norwalk: excellent

The Doughnut Factory on Ohio 61 South in Norwalk: excellent

...............both places closed a few years ago :(

I highly recommend Becker's Donuts & Bakery in Fairview Park (western Cleveland suburb). They had several shops around Cleveland for decades, closed them all in the 1990s (?), then the family's descendants reopened their Fairview Park shop a few months ago. They still have the same family recipies and some of the same employees.

^I second Corbos... their pastries are unbelievable.

Buckeye donuts are the best. Although with the way N. High is changing....it'll be knocked down for another crappy Starbucks in a few years.

Donald's donuts on Maple Ave (SR 60) in Zanesville is fabulous, the best I have ever had! I was there one time at about 6:30 in the morning and a couple from Marion came in. They drove down just to get some donuts from Donald's.

Even if they do, there is a Buckeye Donuts on S. High near Merion Village.

^Isn't that the one Dave Attel went into in the Columbus episode of "insomniac"?.

^Yes.

KJP - I took your advice this weekend and tried Becker's...they were awesome.  Very fresh and tasty.  I never noticed their store before, and I drive by there all the time (Presto's is one of my favorite sandwich shops).  Thanks for the tip!

Dough...nuts?  I said no ethnic food!

I would do anything for a Tim Horton's in Wooster.... honey crueller... ahhhh...

I don't believe Corbo's has doughnuts?  But they do have superb cannoli

Plaza Donuts in Youngstown. YUM!

Buckeye Donuts in Merion Village may be fine, but the campus Buckeye Donuts is fantastic because of the location, history, character and characters. Name me another donut shop in the world that delivers gyros to your house. It's open 24 hours and features patrons speaking any number of languages. I was in there once at 3 a.m. years ago and was writing in a little notebook I had. I looked around and realized the only other customers were three other men also writing in notebooks. Scary.

I was going to put this in the "Cleveland Restaurant Discoveries" thread, but then I remembered this thread.

The Doughnut Pantry in Lakewood has the best doughnuts in NEO, and its not even close.  Their glazed chocolate cake doughnuts might just be the best doughnut in America, and I'm not exaggerating.  They are airy and light, soft, and just a little undercooked in the middle so its moist.  I could eat 5 of those right now, and I'm not even really a doughnut guy.

Deluxe pastries in Ravenna. Yum... I tried to get a job there in high school just for the employee discount.

A grumpy dude with a sweet tooth!  LOL

Jolly Pirates in (Columbus) puts most of the chains to shame!

^ I love Jolly Pirate!

I don't eat donuts that much though. I'd rather fill a giant salad bowl with fruity pebbles.

I've been meaning to check out the new dunkin donuts and Soup Nazi place at Broad and High. I went in there and got a menu and couldn't believe how friendly the service was. They're all like "thank you, we really hope you come back and see us!!" I wish they had a real soup nazi there like in Seinfeld.

amy joy duuhhhh!

seriously presti's sour cream are thee best. also cool is buckeye donuts on high st osu. bills donuts in centerville fills up our containers of coffee. nice.

Jack Frost Donuts at Pearl and Fulton Roads in Old Brooklyn (Cleveland)!  I think now they're called JF Glaze.

Logged in before I even click on the thread title because I planned to comment on Bill's even if it wasn't here already. Love Bill's. I spent a lot of my evenings in high school hanging with friends there (CHS '03). My son now asks whenever we're in Dayton to go down there. My super "scene" Brooklyn transplant cousin raves about them. It's a special place. Ohio gold!

Yeah, Bill's is a treat...especially at 3am.

Not that I've tried a ton of donut places, but George's Donuts in Twinsburg is the best I've had in NEO area.

Several years ago, way before the pandemic, it was reported the Tim Horton's was planning to open several locations in the Cleveland area. Well, that never happened.  There is one in Akron, but nothing else in NE Ohio.  There are quite a few in Columbus, Dayton and Toledo.

I contacted Tim Horton's recently and asked about this.  Here is the response:

Thank you for taking the time to contact us at Tim Hortons with your location suggestion.

While I don't have an answer as to why they haven't opened stores in Cleveland, a copy of your suggestion has been forwarded to our Real Estate Department for their review and consideration. We sincerely thank you for thinking of us and helping us to continually grow as a company.

Please reach out again should you need anything else. We greatly appreciate your support and thank you for your ongoing patronage at Tim Hortons.

Kind Regards,

When Tim Horton's was still a Columbus-based company they probably had their eyes on all of Ohio. Now that they aren't Ohio-based it probably got put on the back burner.

I believe the relevant franchisee opened TH locations in Youngstown, none of which lasted very long.  The Akron Ellet location failed.  Only the US 224 location near Springfield Lake remains.  I would think that Cleveland would be a tough doNUT to crack, as there are Dunkins up the wazoo.  Then there is the franchisee's track record.  Please correct me if the above is wrong.

Also, I believe the presence of many TH's around Ohio is due to their old dalliance with Wendy's with whom they were sometimes co-located.
