I've tried to add an avatar on my profile, but whenever I click the "I have my own pic:" button, put in a URL and save, it comes back with the same screen, no "I have my own pic:" option button, and no avatar...why do I suck?

It was already kinda small - I tried the "upload" thing as well, and no go...here's the picture I thought I'd start with:

Avatars change as the wind, so I figured I could get sarcastic or sardonic with it later...

Save this image to your computer and then go to the profile page and upload it (I think 85 pixels wide/tall is the max):

Mouse in sliced bread...yummy! :-D

^ is there a story behind the mouse and bread thing?

maybe a mouse was running through the kroger bread factory and they smashed it with a loaf of bread? although that wouldnt explain the sliced bread but still intact mouse....so obviously it is your lunch... :D

Mine is a 125-year-old Buttonwood in the bonsai collection at Krohn Conservatory.

Mine's a kind of population density map I made that was posted in a thread which grasscat recently bumped (here).

But I think I'm going to change it to a picture I took of Dayton.

Mine is a photoshoped photo I took of the Columbus skyline from I-670 between 315 and Neil, from, I think, 3 years ago (so yes, the road wasn't opened then).

I was going to have it used as the cover art for Best of Columbus Blues, Vol 2, but I had to step out of that project when I left Columbus for Baton Rouge with the project, at that time, still spinning its wheels.  Volume 2 is now out www.columbusblues.com/store.htm (second from top), and some other artwork was chosen and this is what I have to remember it by.

i stole mine from some guy at planetfamily guy or one of those forums......maybe i should change it up......

Mine is a picture I took at the Park of Roses

It doesn't exactly go with the "urban" theme of the forum, but the park is one of my favorite Columbus places  :-)

^ Is it?  Thanks for the info.

Mine is of Amtrak's Acela Express. I got up that morning in March 2002, decided to go for a drive (heading east, I was thinking about maybe Pittsburgh), but I kept going and five hours later I ended up at the BWI Airport rail station on Amtrak's Northeast Corridor! Here is the original picture and a couple of others I took that day....

I change my avatar way too often.  This is probably my 50th one.

Anyway, now my avatar is a South Park version of me.  No, I don't own a "Towelie" T-shirt, but if I owned one I'd probably wear it.

Mine is Steve McQueen from the movie The Cincinnati Kid

How 'bout a bump of this thread?  Lots of different avatars and new people since June.  (Sorry, I'm slightly bored.)

Mine's pretty straightforward at the moment- just pictures of Dayton and Madison.

For a couple months prior it was the dome of the Wisconsin capitol building.

Just changed to the South entrance to the downtown Hamilton YMCA

Before I had (in reverse order) the Aflack duck, Butler County Courthouse, and Alumni Hall at Miami.

Mine avatar is Christopher Lambert.

It was available as an option without downloading a picture of my own.  So it was easier.

Christopher Lambert is cool.  And kind of creepy.

One movie Christopher Lambert was in was the Highlander.

It was good movie.  In it, he would kill people and then say "there can be only one".

So I made Christopher Lambert my avatar, and "there can be only one" my personal text.

Mine is Coast Guard stripe to represent the best military branch in America

^ LOL...Then you might want to use this avatar (Yes I am prior Air Force)

haha my dad was Air Force too so he thinks the same.  What did you do in the USAF?

Mine is a Russian anti-alcoholism poster I found on the web one day. Translated, it reads: "Alcoholism leads to traumatism." Sadly, it had already been sold, so all I have is the image on my computer. I've always loved the visual art of eastern block graphic design in general and propaganda in specific. The American-style propaganda always seemed so bland to me. Anyhow, I couldn't resist a communist pseudo-Shrek fresh from the losing end of a bar brawl.

The best new show on TV, "My Name is Earl". Though "The Office" is quickly gaining ground.

What did you do in the USAF?

i just changed mine into the eye of the hal9000 computer in 2001 a space odyssey.

Interviewer: HAL, you have an enormous responsibility on this mission, in many ways perhaps the greatest responsibility of any single mission element. You're the brain, and central nervous system of the ship, and your responsibilities include watching over the men in hibernation. Does this ever cause you any lack of confidence?

HAL: Let me put it this way, Mr. Amor. The 9000 series is the most reliable computer ever made. No 9000 computer has ever made a mistake or distorted information. We are all, by any practical definition of the words, foolproof and incapable of error.

***i stole the avatar image from some kids xanga blog.

I figured I'd dig up this thread to hopefully prevent mine from being misconstrued.  It's a little hard to make out when shown as an avatar, but it is an aerial shot of the Forest Hill allotment in East Cleveland during its infancy.  Thought it would be a neat one to use, as I've always liked the area in addition to the fact that the neighborhood exists unbeknown to many.

^ Do you have a larger version of that?  I'm just curious since it is indeed a bit difficult to see at avatar size.

Since the thread is resurrected: my new avatar is a section of a cartoon depicting "Dawn Food Fury," which is an anagram of my name.  (Drawn for me, not by me.)

I actually "borrowed" the image from the Forest Hill Homeowners website.  Here is the link:

http://www.fhho.org/develop.html

It's a pretty helpful site in getting to know the overall history of the Rockefeller/Forest Hill Allotment.  It is run by the group that is in charge of enforcing the deed restrictions that Rockefeller placed on the homes when initially constructed.  There are a few more pictures of the various homes that populate the area as well.

I'll have to make the effort to do a photo tour of the area the next time I'm in Cleveland and have some free time.

Mine is of the first and best baseball team EVERRR!
