Posted January 25, 200520 yr Mine is the Soldiers and Sailors Monument with the Barnes and Thonrburg Building behind it. Basically a resized pic I took:
January 25, 200520 yr I've tried to add an avatar on my profile, but whenever I click the "I have my own pic:" button, put in a URL and save, it comes back with the same screen, no "I have my own pic:" option button, and no avatar...why do I suck?
January 25, 200520 yr ^ That's weird! Can you just resize it and upload it here? As for my avatar, it's a sign I made with a Java sign-making program, SignMaker Central: http://www.kurumi.com/roads/signmaker/index.html
January 25, 200520 yr It was already kinda small - I tried the "upload" thing as well, and no go...here's the picture I thought I'd start with: Avatars change as the wind, so I figured I could get sarcastic or sardonic with it later...
January 25, 200520 yr Save this image to your computer and then go to the profile page and upload it (I think 85 pixels wide/tall is the max): [attachment deleted by admin]
January 25, 200520 yr ^ is there a story behind the mouse and bread thing? maybe a mouse was running through the kroger bread factory and they smashed it with a loaf of bread? although that wouldnt explain the sliced bread but still intact mouse....so obviously it is your lunch... :D mine is just a picture i took of some columbus buildings
January 25, 200520 yr Ohio's Greatest Transporation Museum and Omnimax Center. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
January 25, 200520 yr Mine is a 125-year-old Buttonwood in the bonsai collection at Krohn Conservatory.
January 25, 200520 yr Mine's a kind of population density map I made that was posted in a thread which grasscat recently bumped (here). But I think I'm going to change it to a picture I took of Dayton.
January 25, 200520 yr Mine is a photoshoped photo I took of the Columbus skyline from I-670 between 315 and Neil, from, I think, 3 years ago (so yes, the road wasn't opened then). I was going to have it used as the cover art for Best of Columbus Blues, Vol 2, but I had to step out of that project when I left Columbus for Baton Rouge with the project, at that time, still spinning its wheels. Volume 2 is now out www.columbusblues.com/store.htm (second from top), and some other artwork was chosen and this is what I have to remember it by.
January 25, 200520 yr i stole mine from some guy at planetfamily guy or one of those forums......maybe i should change it up......
January 26, 200520 yr Mine is a picture I took at the Park of Roses It doesn't exactly go with the "urban" theme of the forum, but the park is one of my favorite Columbus places :-)
January 27, 200520 yr Mine is of Amtrak's Acela Express. I got up that morning in March 2002, decided to go for a drive (heading east, I was thinking about maybe Pittsburgh), but I kept going and five hours later I ended up at the BWI Airport rail station on Amtrak's Northeast Corridor! Here is the original picture and a couple of others I took that day.... I got back home by 10 p.m. And, to think, the spirits did it all in one day..... January 27, 200520 yr Mine's a photo of me, taken when I was probably about three years old. I'm older now, but still just as sweet and innocent.
January 27, 200520 yr Mine is the Lorain Carnegie Bridge under construction in Cleveland...in ambitious times
January 27, 200520 yr Mine is just my cat being curious, with my wife's hide-a-cat skittering away in the background...
June 15, 200520 yr I change my avatar way too often. This is probably my 50th one. Anyway, now my avatar is a South Park version of me. No, I don't own a "Towelie" T-shirt, but if I owned one I'd probably wear it.
June 15, 200520 yr Mine is Steve McQueen from the movie The Cincinnati Kid Another version En Francais....
June 15, 200519 yr Mine is the old Pugh / R. L. Polk building in downtown Cincinnati. It's begin converted to condos. Our unit should be finished by late fall. I "borrowed" this pic from the MLS listings.
January 29, 200619 yr How 'bout a bump of this thread? Lots of different avatars and new people since June. (Sorry, I'm slightly bored.) Mine's pretty straightforward at the moment- just pictures of Dayton and Madison. For a couple months prior it was the dome of the Wisconsin capitol building.
January 29, 200619 yr Just changed to the South entrance to the downtown Hamilton YMCA Before I had (in reverse order) the Aflack duck, Butler County Courthouse, and Alumni Hall at Miami.
January 29, 200619 yr Mine avatar is Christopher Lambert. It was available as an option without downloading a picture of my own. So it was easier. Christopher Lambert is cool. And kind of creepy. One movie Christopher Lambert was in was the Highlander. It was good movie. In it, he would kill people and then say "there can be only one". So I made Christopher Lambert my avatar, and "there can be only one" my personal text.
January 29, 200619 yr haha my dad was Air Force too so he thinks the same. What did you do in the USAF?
January 29, 200619 yr Mine is a Russian anti-alcoholism poster I found on the web one day. Translated, it reads: "Alcoholism leads to traumatism." Sadly, it had already been sold, so all I have is the image on my computer. I've always loved the visual art of eastern block graphic design in general and propaganda in specific. The American-style propaganda always seemed so bland to me. Anyhow, I couldn't resist a communist pseudo-Shrek fresh from the losing end of a bar brawl.
January 29, 200619 yr The best new show on TV, "My Name is Earl". Though "The Office" is quickly gaining ground.
January 31, 200619 yr Mine is Dave Chapelle in his Samuel L. Jackson Lager commercial. A shark ate me!!!
February 1, 200619 yr Part of the neighborhood I grew up in, Collegetown. It's Ithaca's second skyline. :-D
February 2, 200619 yr 1. The night skyline view of downtown Cleveland from Columbus Road. 2. One of the four Hope Memorial Bridge pylons (aka "Guardians of Transportation") 3. The best fricking beer on the planet!!! clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram

February 17, 200619 yr i just changed mine into the eye of the hal9000 computer in 2001 a space odyssey. Interviewer: HAL, you have an enormous responsibility on this mission, in many ways perhaps the greatest responsibility of any single mission element. You're the brain, and central nervous system of the ship, and your responsibilities include watching over the men in hibernation. Does this ever cause you any lack of confidence? HAL: Let me put it this way, Mr. Amor. The 9000 series is the most reliable computer ever made. No 9000 computer has ever made a mistake or distorted information. We are all, by any practical definition of the words, foolproof and incapable of error. ***i stole the avatar image from some kids xanga blog.
August 3, 200618 yr I figured I'd dig up this thread to hopefully prevent mine from being misconstrued. It's a little hard to make out when shown as an avatar, but it is an aerial shot of the Forest Hill allotment in East Cleveland during its infancy. Thought it would be a neat one to use, as I've always liked the area in addition to the fact that the neighborhood exists unbeknown to many.
August 3, 200618 yr ^ Do you have a larger version of that? I'm just curious since it is indeed a bit difficult to see at avatar size. Since the thread is resurrected: my new avatar is a section of a cartoon depicting "Dawn Food Fury," which is an anagram of my name. (Drawn for me, not by me.)
August 3, 200618 yr I actually "borrowed" the image from the Forest Hill Homeowners website. Here is the link: http://www.fhho.org/develop.html It's a pretty helpful site in getting to know the overall history of the Rockefeller/Forest Hill Allotment. It is run by the group that is in charge of enforcing the deed restrictions that Rockefeller placed on the homes when initially constructed. There are a few more pictures of the various homes that populate the area as well. I'll have to make the effort to do a photo tour of the area the next time I'm in Cleveland and have some free time.
