Posted November 13, 200618 yr Our jouney cross-country begins in what's been my home for the last 14 years, Columbus OHIO! Our old apartment. First stop, Indianapolis! This city blew my expectations out of the water... Circle Centre Mall, very nice indeed. These weird signs are around downtown and the figure sways its hips all day. Love the architecture in this building, the picture doesn't do it justice. A lovely spot for dinner in the Broad Ripple neighborhood. Next to come, St. Louis!
November 13, 200618 yr Aw, you match! I dig your Indy shots! Loved the one with all the cranes - I'm sure Indianapolis residents do as well! And I can't wait for St. Louis!
November 14, 200618 yr Awesome pictures of Indy! All those cranes downtown are building the new football stadium for the Colts. Lucas Oil Stadium. When it is complete they are going to tear down the Hoosier Dome (RCA Dome) so they can expand the convention center. It looks like they are really making progress on the Central Library expansion finally. I really hope that Circle Center doesn't go the way of City Center (in Columbus). City Center was fairly successful until all the new suburban malls were built (Easton, Polaris, and Tuttle Crossing). Indy is having a suburban mall boom right now with the Eastonish Metropolis on the Southwest side, Clay Terrace on the far north, and two more in the Fishers/Noblesville vicinity (Northeast side). Thats on top of the already existing plethora of suburban malls in the city (Simon Malls is headquartered in Indy). I guess Simon should have a lot of motivation to maintain their flagship, but it seems like they might be killing themselves with all these new malls. Castleton is really going to take a dive with all the newer malls so close by. Thanks for the pics!
November 14, 200618 yr Indy's downtown mall is beautiful and it will be a damn shame if it goes the way of City Center. Suburban malls built with no consideration for how they detriment cities urban cores piss me off...
