Sheesh.  Lots of people secluded from society.  Well I'm moving out of my downtown chicago apartment to a bigger place on the Northside where I'll be closer to friends and bars I frequent. It's been a great 5 years of highrise living but im ready for a change

Wow, my last post on here from 2010 was horrible. I'm suddenly feeling bad for something I wrote 4 years ago. Weird.

Since then I've moved from Milwaukee to Cincinnati and have had three apartments here. I'm now in my dream apartment in Over-the-Rhine. Love it here.

I have moved several times since this thread was last active, but bought a small house in 2013. The house had been vacant for about two years and was owned by an institutional buyer who I'm happy to report lost money.  I've had a lot of work done on it over the past year, this is a video I made before I moved in.  The guy you can hear me talking to was an inspector.

^^^Wow!  You've got a great yard for being on Klotter.

The yard is "big" because the house is so small.  The house is only 20x35 feet on a 90 foot lot.  Meanwhile the two apartments to either side are 20x70 on the same sized lot.  That's why I'm rooting for this neighborhood to adopt form based code so that I can legally build a backyard cottage to rent.  I could rent the house for $1,400 and the cottage for $500.

Here is the backyard viewed from the roof...also you might be able to tell that the back patio and retaining wall was rebuilt as compared to what you can see in the video.

The pile of rocks at center is leftover from a previous tenant, who might have been worshiping the devil.  My mom thought it was bad luck to move the rocks so they're still stacked there.

My house before I bought it, in late 2010:

Last weekend: (just to be clear about the steps, I will be removing the concrete steps, and putting a railing there.)

The house is monochromatic, for now, because the city made me paint it before I could afford to do it right, last summer.
