I live in the lovely township of Colerain in Hamilton County, Ohio, and about 500 feet from Green Township. I can get to the dysfunctional (road-wise)area known as Harrison / Rybolt in about 3 minutes, and I can make to 74. 275 or SR126 in no longer than 5 minutes. I live on top the Taylor Creek Valley, and at the top of my driveway I can hear the noises of I-74 in the valley below.

You must live on Mullen or Springdale Rd.  I used to ride my bike on those country roads out there like Thompson and Brehm Rd. when I was a kid.

I have lived in four different houses and apartments in Cincinnati, four different apartments in Athens, three different places in Knoxville, one in Nashville, one in Boston, and one in Kansas city.  I also lived on an anchored barge on the Ohio River for a month in Paducah, KY.

Nope, I live on Daleview, although Mullen is in my backyard.

^ I used to live on Thompson Rd.  I know the area very well.

About 1/3 of my baseball card collection was stolen from the Parkview Market.  We'd go in there and steal ten packs, go home and check them out, then go back up and steal ten more the same day.  In fact all of my Fleer cards are from there, since they were the only place around that had Fleer except for the short-lived Bud's Baseball Cards in the White Oak shopping center.  We lived in one of the first houses built in the Lake Hills subdivision.  I remember when there was for awhile a big barn where the pool was built, and I was the first kid to climb on top of that thing's pyramid chimney when they built it in 87 or 88.  That neighborhood's houses are looking pretty shaggy now and it's only 20 years old.  I'm sure you guys remember Holly's Place, the Flicker Inn, and Janelle's Pub.  Janelle shot her husband in the bar in 1995 and I comandeered all the CRIME SCENE tape and we put it back in "the woods".  By "the woods" I mean the spot where all the teenagers smoke and drank, which was this clearing me and this other guy hacked out when we were 15.  There's more to this story but I'm going to cut it off right here.

^ Parkview, what an interesting market, and look at what it has turned into now.

Good ol' Lake Hills, I remember living there, and playing in "the woods" as a kid. I also remember living across the street from you and hearing you practice the drums in your garage. That was some time ago. Now the houses do look quite shaggy. It's a pity, as the oldest houses are only 20 years old.

You're not Jake Haverkamp.  Hopefully you're not Ken Bach.  Because you told my brother John that Rob was going to "get his gun" if my band practiced again in the garage.  Are you one of the Murnans or the Osterbrocks?  Hopefully you aren't Mike Leon or else I'm going to tell everyone about what a spaz you were.  Wait...I think your real name is Jacob Murnan.  I think I remember that name.  You were a little kid then when we moved out.  There were thousands of kids on that street.  Whenever I go around telling people stories from growing up they never believe me but that neighborhood had some of the most ridiculous people in the world.  I'm sure our family was just as bad as any of them.  The names and the incidents go on and on and on.  The worst of all was Jeremy Hoe.  If you remember that guy you're *hard-core* Lake Hills.

I cleared out that spot with Pat Wayner and he and Jake Havercamp and me hung out there the summer when we were 15 until I shot a rabbit with Pat's BB gun and I threw the carcas up in a tree where no animals could get it.  A day later the smell in that whole area was so bad I think somebody called the police because in the next newsletter there was a big thing in it about "teenagers in the woods".  What was hilarious is that at the time my mom wrote the newsletter and I think she knew it was me and Pat back there causing trouble.

I'd be interested to see if that spot and the other trails I made are still there.  Me and Danny Burger built an awesome RC car track in those woods at the end of the street.  There was a whole skid of bricks just sitting untouched in the woods and we built these three and four foot high banked curves with them.  Then these two trashy Colerain girls came over and wrecked it.  If you went far enough back in those woods there was this big junk yard with about 50 cars and three or four school buses.  They built that new street off of Sheed Rd. so I'd bet they got rid of all that.

You probably remember that white VW Vanagon my mom had.  Right before we moved out, in typical Lake Hills fashion, somebody slashed two of her tires up at the pool (I think it was Matt Owens) and she actually drove the thing to Cronin VW on Colerain Ave. on just two tires.  So that was my last memory of the place.

Hey there!

I'm a little late to this thread.  I've been reading the forum for a few days now, and this is my first official post.  It's nice to see others (KJP, MayDay) from my neighborhood on here.  I live in a small one-bedroom apartment on Clifton Blvd in Lakewood near the intersection of Cove and Clifton.  I moved up here from Cuyahoga Falls a year ago.  I work downtown, so when contemplating my move I considered Tremont, Cleveland Heights, Little Italy and Ohio City, but settled on this section of Lakewood for the neighborhood feel, walkability and easy access to downtown at a price I could afford.  Plus I have lots of friends who live in Lakewood.

Like KJP, I have a wide variety of ethnicities in my building.  I would guess half the building might be foreign-born.  Ideally I would have liked to live in one of the apartments above the retail strip on Clifton, but I am still within easy walking distance.  I also frequently walk by the developing Rockport Square area to check out the progress.

I am not involved in urban planning, design, architecture or any related field, but I am very interested in intelligent urban planning and urban renewal, I'm a city gal at heart.  I love Cleveland and watch its progress with great interest.  But perhaps this is better suited to another thread on "what do you do for a living?" or "Why are you here?"

P.S. to KJP, MayDay and other Clevelanders, do you read Cool Cleveland?  Did you see the rumor today about Truffles closing?  I am so bummed.

I saw that about Truffles and while it's definitely sad to see them go... how do I put this... it wasn't on the top of my list. I never went any other time than late spring to summer (for the patio). Inside, the cigarette smoke was never well ventilated (if at all) and to be honest, while I understand that small businesses are on limited budgets, I swear the place looked exactly the same as it did almost a decade ago when I first paid a visit.

Finally - and I know this is being prissy, but I should never have to ask for skim milk or Splenda.

New Albany, Ohio! The home of Les Wexner. Before moving to New Albany, me and my family lived in Clintonville. I do like New Albany, but I do miss Clintonville. It was a very nice area (around Royal Forest Blvd, Dominon Blvd) with access to lots of stuff (Downtown, OSU, OH 315, I-71, High Street, Whetstone Park). When I tell people I live in New Albany, a lot of them think I live by Wexner. He and other people live in New Albany Farms, with homsites over $500,000 and homes well over $1.5 million! But I do live very close to him, off of Lambton Park Road, which is also full of million dollar homes. The house I live in though did not cost that much! My parents didn't need a house at that price, since its just me, my mom, dad and pets! I also wanted to know what people on this site think of New Albany. Love it, Hate it, Unsure???

New Albany is just...weird...

"You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers

new albany is too much new, not enough albany.

splenda is so yucky!

Rest here

I live 834 miles SSW of you Sherman.

Mostly I live in this small, windowless grad student office/Croatian Peasant Party headquarters.

But I sleep in an apartment.  I'm voting for boxcar, though, because of my dream of one day becoming a hobo.

I live above an Italian restaurant in the red building

Unfortunately I am still a basement dweller.  Its not that odd since I am still in school and all, but nonetheless I don't want to be here...my financial situation ties my hands though.  I have been looking into apts in downtown Cincy, as well as, in the Uptown area.  I want to leave my car and replace it with a bike!

I own a home outside Fayetteville, Arkansas in the beautiful Ozarks.

I live in a parsonage in the Arkansas River Valley, within breathing distance of I-40.

^Ooo...the Ozarks...I've hiked and camped there, north-western Arkansas - absolutely gorgeous!

Downtown Cleveland.

living in a batchelor pad on Shaker Square!

In a lovely 1927 craftsman bungalow located in the historic West Boulevard neighborhood of Cleveland

Nice house Musky, but that picture just reemphasizes why I do not want to live in a single family detached home.  I don't want to shovel snow!  But then again, you have kids to do the dirty work!  :whip:

I live in a 100+ year old warehouse in Downtown Dayton

But if you have a garage with alley access, there are no driveways to shovel. ;)

I haven't shoveled or cut grass since 1998.

I do have a garage, but no alley.

Wait, I thought you were moving to Tremont?!?

Wow, you ought to put the place on the next home tour. By the way, do you have any zoning issues with that mountain?  ;)

Here's the subdivided house I live in.  It's amazing how they can cram 6 apartments, each with a living room, bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen all into this house.  I'm up on the second floor.

Seeing this picture makes me glad its sunny and 65 out right now.

None of the above. I found a really nice wood packing crate complete with a lid, and dragged it under a bridge. There's room inside for both me and my shopping cart.

Actually:

It's paid for, and I don't eat much, so I spend all my money on riotous living.  :drunk:

Ink..you dorm is reminiscent of the previous owners of my apartment idea of "decorating".  I called it "Shady Pines Motif".

Your roommate is a straight up slob!  I mean damn!

Ok, since people are posting pics of their pads, here is mine (top floor) 8-)

LAsam,

how much is your rent?

$1,325/mo.

It seems steep, but, the pay scale is quite different out here.  To compare it to Midwest prices is kind of an apples to oranges relationship.

Actually that is kinda low.  I'd be interested to know what your square footage & how many bedrooms you have and if you live alone?

It is a 1bd/1ba, and I live with my fiance.  In terms of SqFt I have no idea, but it's quite spacious.  I may be able to snap some interior photos sometime soon.

MTS, you've been twisted too much by NYC.  For some reason even though Cali home prices are sky high, rents never really caught up and are still well below the rip-off rates of NYC.
