Here are some shots I took in Kerrytown this morning.  My family and I go there all the time for the farmers market and to go to Treasure Mart.

Zingerman's isn't that bad, actually.

I've been to Kerrytown many times but today was my first time actually going inside Zingermans lol

Looks pleasant, maybe just a little bit less gentrified than other areas of Ann Arbor that are usually seen on the forums?

^^^

It's pretty good, yes, but i wouldn't say it is necessarily worth the price you pay.  I mean a sandwich can run you upwards of $10...without any sides.

Kerrytown is one of my favorite parts of Ann Arbor.  However, its character is at risk.  There a several loft/condo towers planned for the area that, in my opinion, don't fit well at all.

if you like deli stuff zingerman's is great. it's a cousin of katzinger's in columbus. steroidal midwestern deli "concepts," but both are excellent nonetheless and certainly well loved by their many patrons.

"not that bad?"- Zingerman's kicks ass and everyone knows it (and I'm not saying that just because we sell it in our stores). It sounds like some anti-Michigan bias.

No.  It isn't THAT good either.  Bias or no bias, it's good but not as good as it's "hyped" or the price suggests.

true, it isnt 'that' great as it gets hyped, but it is very good and it's for sure much better than the second best deli in aa, heh.

lots of people make it a destination tho - i dk why as, for example, you have katzingers in columbus and shapiros in indy & mannys in chicago in the region.

I agree Zingerman's is good.  But yes the price is high, otherwise I'd go there all of the time.

^Bingo.

Have you been to the Zingerman's Creamery?  It's over on Plaza Drive near State St. I believe?  I heard the prices are a little more reasonable.

I've never been, though.

I have heard the prices are better there, but never quite made it up that way to try it out.  I think the last time I had a Zingerman's sandwhich was when they were doing this deal where you could get half off a sandwhich when you showed them an Ann Arbor parking ticket.  People started making copies of them and think they eventually caught on.

I really should go to Kerrytown more since they have good produce and stuff there, and I'd be buying local.  I've haven't been in the market in almost a year and probably not up to the second and third floors in probably seven years.  No clue what stores are in there now.

I do know that a 12 story building is planned for that area though.

^^

I hit A2 a couple of times a week...usually on Sunday, so I don't get to market much.  I have been to the Ypsilanti Farmer's Market in Depot Town though.  It's small, but they have good quality stuff.

There are actually two towers planned for the general Kerrytown area.

The first on is on Main Street and is called Ashley Terrance.  Not exactly in Kerrytown, but on the border: http://www.jfreed.com/property_detail.html?id=57&state=Michigan&t=1

The other one is called The Gallery.  I believe this is the one you are referring to:

Yeah, I've seen the construction work for Ashley Terrace as well as the renderings for the Gallery.  I guess the gallery was once supposed to be a lot taller (around 20 stories) with a shorter tower next to it.  That bombed miserably.  I blame the whole 4th Ward for complaining.
