That's right, we hit 1,000 members this week with the registration of SunnySusie!

SunnySusie, we'd like to congratulate you and if you reply to this thread within one week, you'll receive a prize package!

The prizes include an UrbanOhio.com bumpersticker, a signed copy of "Cleveland's Downtown Architecture", and prints of photos taken by some of UrbanOhio's photographers! All you need to do is reply here by Tuesday, November 28th! :-)

Thank you to ALL of our members for making this a great forum, keep up the great work!

Just to let you know...I am actually SunnySusie....I just masquerade around as UncleRando.  So go ahead and send the prize package to me!

Riiiight... it's just those pesky IP addresses don't match! ;-)

Of course, having two screen names ALSO violates forum rules...  :whip:

But you can change identities when you cross into another state, right?

Damnit! I was number 500 and I thought that was pretty cool. I had no idea there was a whole prize package for number 1000!  I knew I should have waited longer.

Anyhow, congrats SunnySusie and it looks like the count on female forumers just went up a tick as well.

Pretty exciting stuff. Congrats to SunnySusie. Hopefully she sees the thread and doesn't pass it up.

Just out of curiosity, is this board's traffic growing? With all of the pictures and news and various topics we all discuss, i'm sure google and yahoo pick up this site like crazy.

Growing?  No.

Exploding?  Yes.

Maybe you should put her screen name in the title.

Welcome SunnySusie!

Warmly,

Member #653

Such a pleasant handle, too!

Welcome.

Just for fun, I plotted the new members by month from inception through October 2006.

Ok, if Susie Sunshine doesn't get the prize, then Alabama definitely should... plotting the history of new members in Excel is the epitome of urban dork-ness...which is the true spirit of Urban Ohio!

how can you a member find out what their member number is?

I think that would cool to know.

Why do you want to know, Mr. 183?

(At least, that's my assumption...I clicked on your name, and the URL includes the text, "u=183")

So wait, I was nearly the 1000th member?  That would have been great as a Michigander.  I should have sat back and waited until the 999th member registered.

Hmm.

When I click on my name, it says 323.  But if I sort the member list by join date, I show up at 304.  Maybe some user names have been deleted over time.

Go by the one that is in the members list.  We have deleted some here and there so the one that you see when you click on your name is incorrect.  :)

On the member list, I'm 232, but my name says 252.  Ponderous...

I must be the Ohio of Urbanohio.

35th member to sign up.

ok...I must be blind or something because I still can't see my member registration number!

Interesting that there's such a huge peak in new members in January to March in the last two years. I guess people are suffering from cabin fever during the depths of winter. That also tells me we don't have enough winter sports or cold-weather events to keep us busy during those months.

I am going to have to do another line chart from the forum stats again....

What's the wager that SunnySusie is just a porn spam sleeper?

Umm...so this SunnySusie hasn't been active since the morning of November 21, the day she registered.

Did we scare her away already?

If I walked into a bar, and suddenly everyone started hailing my presence, offering to buy me drinks if only I sat down next to them, then talking about whose bathroom graffiti was oldest, I'd probably find a way to sneak out while they were distracted...

too bad I was the 998th member

and thats no joke

I guess that would make me # 424!  Damn I missed the prize by a mere 576 members!!!!!  Patience IS a virtue :|

I nominate exurbkid as Honorary 1,000th Member.

What an honor... I just dont know what to say

That would be ironic if EXURBkid was hailed on an urban affairs forum!

Okay ... MayDay and ColDay ...

I want to cancel my account please.

exurb- the ring of prosperous rural communities beyond the suburbs that, due to availability via the new high-speed limited-access highways, were becoming dormitory communities for an urban area.

thank you wikipedia

Urban centers depend on the exurbs!

Without reinstation, sure.

You make it sound like a political position. ;)

Reinstation? What's that, a Hindu Temple?

Yes, Vishnu.

Hang around kid.  You'll soon discover that exurbs are the bane, not the promise, for urban centers.

Shhh, Magyar. We're trying to lure him into the city so he'll give us money for beer.

Kill the thread and revoke Sunnysuzie's account (since it's not being used)

^If that was the case, we'd hardly have 200 forumers, maybe even less.

I didn't say delete all dormant accounts, just the ones with 0 posts.

I've mentioned this before.

^does it really matter?

no.

At the last Cincinnati meet there were a few people there who said they never post but read almost daily.

Deleting their accounts would be kinda rude.

That's a great thought - I similarly use a few other messageboards where I'd never post (sports forums, say - no good ever came from posting on a sports forum - but they're very interesting to read), and losing the ability to track what's been read and what's left unread would blow...

Though the pruning could be limited to those accounts that have never posted and have not been active since signing up...but again, I don't see what possible benefit that could be, unless maybe someone were trying to use up all the cool usernames...

I only read on the weekends, as I fear I'll become addicted.  In my small time here, I've learned A HELL OF A LOT about Cleveland/Ohio by reading this site.  Not wanting to become addicted could be a reason for people not to log on frequently.

I wonder if the moderators, could send a message to all members, asking each member to confirm that they are would like to keep their account.  Give a deadline and for those that don't respond, delete the account.

I almost got stuck with "Riverviewer671," thank you very much.

Again, this is solving a problem that doesn't exist...having unused sign-ups doesn't hurt anything...

I was deciding between "Bluegill In Pond" and "RiverViewer", but the coin came up heads...
