Gosh darn, those supertalls are an acquired taste.   Simultaneously exciting and disjointed.   Maybe we should ask @Geowizicalto render a few of them into the 3 C downtowns to see what our futures may hold. 😉

In the serene setting of Ohio’s Hocking Hills State Park, a remarkable concrete bridge spans Old Man’s Creek. Made from a series of cast-in-place concrete platforms and piers, this bridge is a testament to both resilience and design.

The need for this structure arose from a catastrophic event on January 7, 1998. A flash flood ravaged Old Man Cave’s Gorge Trail, severely damaging its three stone bridges and completely obliterating seven wooden bridges. This disaster made it clear that a stronger, more durable trail system was urgently needed to withstand the impulses of nature.

I always thought the buiding on the left was by the same architect as Terminal Tower but not think it is the case. May just be style that many copied in that period as I believe I have seen similar looks in Poland and Moscow.

So much fine detail in many of the old buildings.  It would cost a small fortune (or large fortune?)  to build something like that now.

It's rumored that Moscow State University and the Palace of Science and Culture (which some want to rename after St. John Paul or Reagan as a slap at the Russians) were modeled on the Terminal Tower, which was modeled on NY City Hall (shown).

I knew there had to be a connection given the similarity. Thank you.

The Municipal Building in NYC was the clear inspiration for all of these, including the Terminal Tower.  Though the Seven Sisters in Moscow's general inspiration came from the never-built Palace of the Soviets

Tracing the History of U.S. Route 24 from Genoa, Colorado’s Wonder Tower

Passing through the open plains of eastern Colorado, we made a brief stop at one of the state’s more peculiar roadside relics: the World’s Wonder View Tower. From here, you can trace the evolution of American travel—layered like sediment across the landscape. Down below, a railroad cuts a sharp line across the prairie. Nearby are the remains of early highway alignments and, farther still, the steady hum of Interstate 70.

Ah yes, Genoa. The middle point between the Kansas border and Denver.
