^that's terrible! No, I think it was supposed to be Orthodox Christmas, since it was about a week after New Years, but on a Saturday, not exactly on the day. I believe Ukrainians are evenly split between Roman Catholics and Eastern Orthodox. Not sure. Although maybe that is Krampus in the middle.

If this is a Christmas group it almost certainly is.

I guess you're right. I thought you were suggesting that somehow this was a celebration in honor of Krampus. I'm not familiar with traditional Ukrainian faiths to know this figure would be incorporated into a Christmas tableau. Anyway I think this group, which assembled in this spot after I spotted them in a procession down the street, seemed to barely tolerate my presence, as they were posing for what seemed an "official" photograph by someone to my left. I guess I should have at least asked them specifically what they were celebrating.

I spotted Green Tea Kit Kat in Chinatown the other day. Has anyone ever had this? At $6.99 for this bag I decided I wasn't that curious (I think they also make a wasabi variety :-P)

There are over 200 flavours of Kit Kat mostly from Japan

Here is a good reason why from AdAge:

"Nestle was struck by the discovery that the Japanese translation of Kit Kat -- Kitto Katsumeans "surely win" -- and realized it could be paired with the tradition of sending students good luck wishes before they take tough higher-education entrance exams. So it partnered with Japan's postal service to create "Kit Kat Mail," a postcard-like product sold only at the post office that could be mailed to students as an edible good-luck charm."

^ of course. those are a thing that everyone who visits japan needs to pick at the airport for friends, etc.. green tea are the most popular gifts/requests. funny though they are kind of hard to find outside of the airports. its not they are just available everywhere in japan, so its a bit of a hoax too. i have been seeing them in the japanese groceries more and more lately around nyc, so no need to drag them back from japan anymore.

but they do make a lot of wacky kit-kat flavors just for japan -- the latest flavor was just released very recently, mango & cheese (!?!)

^ btw yankee stadium was only half full and there were lots of tribe fans, maybe more than i have ever seen at an away game. so that was cool despite the loss.
