December 14, 200915 yr ^Beautiful. Is that Lake Erie? I remember (and it doesn't seem like that many years ago) when that sort of view would have been muddy brown.
December 14, 200915 yr I just saw that on flickr. I love your lake photos. They all have that feeling of relaxation. Gorgeous.
December 14, 200915 yr Took a few photos of one of my T.80's back in October. I like how this one came out:
December 14, 200915 yr Crappy cellphone pic, but this merits a posting on UO's Picture of the Day. One of the best burgers from the Five & Dime Diner in Downtown Williamsport: Barbecue sauce, pepper jack cheese, bacon, full and tasty bread, amazing fries.. Try not to drool all over your keyboards. That looks delicious :-P I like making burgers. So far, 2 people have told me they're the best burgers they've ever had. I use ranch dressing instead of mayonnaise and shake garlic, ground cayenne pepper, red pepper, oregano, thyme and salt together in a bag then put it on top of the burger. Then I add onions and cheese on top. Its got some cajun influence. Try it sometime; you won't be disappointed!
December 14, 200915 yr Once I read cayenne pepper I started drooling uncontrollably haha. It sounds delicious. I may just have to drive the 8 hours to Columbus just to try one haha.

MTS Atomic Burger Ground Sirloin 4 pinches of Cayenne Pepper (I don't use spoons) 2 pinches of Chili Powder A little Garlic clove Habanero Sauce Diced onions Diced scotch bonnet peppers (handle with care and use protection) Whole Jalapeno peppers (grilled, then wrapped in a paper towel) Rock salt Ground black Pepper Cilantro Thyme Lawry's (yeah I said Lawry's) Paprika ½ tablespoon of butter Bacon (cooked) Grilled onions [*]Cook your bacon and set aside [*]Grill you sliced onions and jalapenos. Wrap the jalapenos and set aside [*]Put all your items with the exception of the two peppers, bacon and grilled onions in food processor. Blend. [*]Cut ½ the scotch bonnet and toss it in, blend (if you don't want to much heat, cut out the seeds and the white part). Do not put it near your mouth or eyes. Toss gloves and wash hands. Fold the mixture into the meat. Make medium to thin patties. Slice the Jalapenos length wise and place in between two patties. Cook in the same cast iron skillet* you used to fry your bacon. Turn frequently to distribute the heat from the inside. When done cooking, top with bacon, onions and cheese of choice and cover for 1 minute. The cheese will melt over the bacon and onions and "hold" everything in place. *if outdoor grilling brush the jalapenos with red pepper sauce, mixed with a few drops of A1, so they don't dry out. Its the perfect thing to go with dry rubbed corn grilled in its husk! Yummy! Just remember to say steer clear of anyone after you eat this as your breath will be stank!
December 14, 200915 yr Isn't there a recipe thread somewhere?? MTS, you have to post more haha. That sounds amazing.

December 14, 200915 yr So do I. I just never have the chance to eat "real" spicy food. I bet I could win a hot wing eating contest though.

I've never tried a wing competition as they are rarely hot enough to me. I did that sushi challenge in Bushido in charleston, and it was HOT! My mouth is watering just thinking about that.

I agree Bushido is rediculously hot, but the first few rolls taste so good before they start being inedible. (I finished the challange, but I'm not afraid to admit I cried quite a bit in the process.)

Most people couldnt get past roll five. I was sweating like I ran a marathon in 100% humidity. I couldn't feel my lips, mouth or nose. I wasn't sure I was blinking.
December 15, 200915 yr Topic please! This thread has wandered away photos and comments on them. Please take the recipe-swapping to the kitchen - or urbanbar.

December 17, 200915 yr Since I helped steer this thread off topic, I'll put it back on track. (Pun intended?) A Norfolk Southern coal drag (PPLX) on its way to get more coal for PPL Montour in Washingtonville, PA. I love those Bethgon Coalporters. Too bad a set of 5 from Athearn is about 90 bucks...
December 24, 200915 yr C-Dawg, any shots of the Great Lakes in winter with the snow and everything? I think a snowy beach scene could be very cool, and you capture the lakes beautifully.
December 26, 200915 yr I hope this is OK to post..... So since I was a kid, my parents have these blocks that say "Merry Christmas" and when we were kids my brothers and I thought it was funny to change it to this. And as a Christmas tradition, I still change it to this every year. Merry Christmas Everyone!!!!!
December 26, 200915 yr ^You're naughty! If you didn't get coal this year, you will next year for sure!
December 29, 200915 yr Looking down Bridge Ave. outside of Heck's in Ohio City this afternoon during the lake effect.
December 29, 200915 yr Those might be my footprints! I was there when this started to happen walking the dog! Ohio City looks great in fresh snow!
January 1, 201015 yr My last "Picture Of The Day" for 2009. My favorite type of rolling stock sitting in the Newberry Railyard:
January 9, 201015 yr I spent five years in Minnesota and the wobegon work ethic taught me to keep my walks clear. Well, wobegon and Adeline. She lived two doors down and was 78 and widowed, and kept her walks even more spotless than yours, from edge to edge. It taught me a lesson that I'm trying to impart to my three sons. My Minnesota Maxim is that it's easier to shovel three inches three times than nine inches once. In trying to keep my walks as clean as Adeline's, I am socially responsible, morally superior and anally retentive.
January 9, 201015 yr I learned from my grandmother. At first it was Sundays, when we'd pick her up for church and then take her home, either for dinner at her house, or after we had had dinner at our house. Dad made it clear that it was my job to clean her walks the way she used to do it whe she could. That meant shovel edge-to-edge, and then scrape to break up any stubborn packed clumps, and then sweep with a push broom until there was no trace of snow. After I turned sixteen and was able to get there on my own, it became my regular assignment every time it snowed. Grammy, as we called her, was of old-school Pennsylvania Dutch heritage. She had a place for everything, and everything was in its place. She swept the front porch floor every morning, scrubbed it weekly with a bucket of suds and a broom and a hose, and painted it every spring.
January 13, 201015 yr in greenwich village the other night no snow in sight for awhile, its finally starting to warm up a little around here

Nothing should be on a counter. Draws and cabinets should be neat and orderly. Everything has it's place!
January 17, 201015 yr It was a warm day (mid 40's), and I got to hang out with some old friends this afternoon. My friend, whose 350Z I have photographed many times, just bought an old 1990 240sx project car. Since the car needed a lot of work, the whole crew was at his place working on the car, washing our cars, and just having a good time. It was so nice to see some clean cars during this harsh winter we've been having. An Evo IX on the left, my friend's 350Z in the back, and my Altima on the right:
January 22, 201015 yr Typical evening congestion along the infamous "Connector" through Midtown Atlanta as it approaches Downtown. There are currently 14 lanes of interstate here, but recent widening efforts that are creating a complex series of parallel roads will in essence make the stretch a total of 20 lanes or so.
January 22, 201015 yr There are currently 14 lanes of interstate here, but recent widening efforts that are creating a complex series of parallel roads will in essence make the stretch a total of 20 lanes or so. Atlanta will never learn that more lanes doesn't solve the problem, will they (see I-75 between Windy Hill Rd. and I-285)? I can't imagine how expensive widening the project will be. But the residents down there won't bat an eye at the cost.
January 22, 201015 yr I'm guessing the parallel roads will serve as "local" lanes with exit and entrance ramps, and "express" lanes that will only take you through the city with few crossovers to the local lanes. I-78 and I-287 in New Jersey have that configuration near Newark and Somerville respectively. 20 lanes is insane though, I think the widest of both highways I mentioned is about 6 lanes on each side, 3 lanes per road. Atlanta is insane...
January 22, 201015 yr They can widen the roads to stretch coast to coast and it won't solve the problem of poor growth management as a trend of blind growth continues down a road to nowhere. Growth beyond maturity is cancer.
January 24, 201015 yr ^Doha! There we go. I was waiting for a response. I walked into that building and asked the security guard if I could go to the top. He politely informed my in broken English that in seven months I could come back and he would let me up...once the construction is finished. It's going to be a five-star hotel...just like every other hotel being built in Doha right now... I'll get a decently indepth photo thread up here before too long.
January 24, 201015 yr Is the Westin still missing windows? That tornado was like 2 years ago. Yes, they finally began working on replacing the windows in earnest just over the past month or so. It's quite pathetic to be honest.
January 25, 201015 yr ^The reason for the delay - from wikipedia about the Westin Peachtree: This is because the ¼-inch (6mm) uninsulated glass is no longer made by PPG Industries, and even identical new windows would look mismatched because of weathering due to three decades of hot sunshine. Additionally, new building codes require insulated glass that can withstand winds up to 90 miles per hour (145 km/h) instead of 75 miles per hour (120 km/h), necessitating heavier and more expensive glass. Replacement of all 6350 windows was expected to begin in June or July 2009 and continue from the top down until summer 2010 at a cost over 20 million dollars, which will be covered by insurance.[6][7] Until then, 81 of its 1068 rooms are unavailable, down from an initial 320.
