August 3, 20177 yr ^ Fung Wah Bus may be no more, but every city now seems to have a few families that own all sorts of different LLCs that operate these crappy buses. I once took one from Cincinnati to NYC for $30, round trip. The actual name of the bus line, and the LLC changes from time to time but the owners are all the same people.
August 3, 20177 yr ^is this the place? I walk by here all the time. It seems several companies (or is it really one operating under many names?) are located in the same spot. The signage for these places looks so confusing. I wonder how often people end up getting on the wrong bus. Although some of the new ones have more comfortable and spacious waiting rooms. http://www.mainstreetpainesville.org/
August 3, 20177 yr ^ The one I took was a couple blocks over: https://www.google.com/maps/@40.7155726,-73.9941661,3a,35.3y,54.86h,89.2t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sGIAnABnMfalsWJyuJaxZPQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656 You have a ticket that says where you're going, and they are adamant about making sure everyone has a ticket, and that you get off when you're supposed to, so it would probably be tough to actually get on a wrong bus, but certainly easy to wait in line for awhile for the wrong bus.
August 14, 20177 yr Happy Dominican Day! Damn this was a loud parade. As the float in the background passed you could feel the sidewalk reverberating http://www.mainstreetpainesville.org/
August 17, 20177 yr oh yeah i took these awhile back because i noticed those chinatown bus routes have shifted from I80 to I70 over the past couple years, but i had forgotten about them -- changing of the guard for the ohio chinese population maybe?
August 24, 20177 yr ^but where's the Cleveland bus located now? It used to be on the eastern end of Canal Street by a little triangular park near the corner of Allen. It just disappeared. http://www.mainstreetpainesville.org/
August 31, 20177 yr Happy Dominican Day! Damn this was a loud parade. As the float in the background passed you could feel the sidewalk reverberating They like their music really loud also, lol.
September 2, 20177 yr ^ haha yeah, but not nearly as loud as the labor day carribean festival will be tomorrow. those sound systems crank the dial up to 11!
September 11, 20177 yr I couldn't afford the Ferrari so I had to settle for this. I would have tried for a closer picture but the woman in the passenger seat didn't look like she was in the mood for anyone to be taking pictures, even though everybody who walked by was staring at the car. I bet these people live in the neighborhood (Madison Ave & 89th St). I'm always surprised when I hear of people in Manhattan who have cars. Hope they made it home safely :-) http://www.mainstreetpainesville.org/
September 12, 20177 yr ^ friends recently rented a convertible ferrari just like that for the day and drove around upstate to hudson/dia. that's the only way to do it. i cant imagine owning and keeping anything but a beater anywhere near the ny metro area.

September 14, 20177 yr ^ what on earth would make you think you can't rent a fancy sports car? http://www.oddee.com/item_97164.aspx
September 16, 20177 yr ^I'm holding out for a Bugatti block party on my block today. It's about as exciting as it looks. People selling their old junk, and "crafts" :| http://www.mainstreetpainesville.org/
November 1, 20177 yr Ground Zero on Saturday (Who would have thought that 3 days later we would have to think about building another memorial for the same reason?) http://www.mainstreetpainesville.org/
December 15, 20177 yr one of these candles looks a little deflated :( http://www.mainstreetpainesville.org/
March 11, 20187 yr convoy of 3 buses from Cincinnati spotted on Lafayette St. I assume everyone was headed to Chinatown. Don't know if any urbanohioans were on board http://www.mainstreetpainesville.org/
March 16, 20187 yr Years ago I ate street pizza against my better judgement during a late night out at Put-in-Bay. The next morning on the ferry I got to sharing regret stories with two girls who, as fate would have it, actually left the mostly uneaten pizza in the box on the sidewalk. I was very thankful and relieved to learn that it wasn’t some sort of devious plan to poison drunk idiots.
May 21, 20187 yr ^ tokyo !!! a friend sent me this — a peek at comedian car collector jerry seinfeld’s garage:
June 23, 20186 yr last night while walking by Madison Square Park a Japanese group called the Seppuku Pistols was posing for pictures. Don't know if they gave a performance there. Not sure if I should be sorry that I missed it--lol https://www.timeout.com/tokyo/music/seppuku-pistols http://www.mainstreetpainesville.org/
July 20, 20186 yr What do you mean you never heard of City of the Sun? Or was it City in the Sun?... this is funny. I ran across this video of a group I saw on a hot muggy afternoon just above Union Square four years (!) ago, filmed just around the time I posted the picture. It's gotten 3.5+ million views. WTF? Aside from having a great deal of manic energy I'm trying to figure out what other redeeming musical value they exhibit. As far as I can tell their repertoire doesn't go much beyond this. Maybe it's the hipster mystique :( http://www.mainstreetpainesville.org/
July 20, 20186 yr ^ That's actually a pretty good cover of that song. If you are into The xx, likely going to come across that video in your YouTube feed at some point and watch it, hence the strong viewing numbers.

I had no idea who xx is, least of all how big they are. lol But while scrolling through their top viewed videos I see where City of the Sun appears again with the same piece in an artfully directed production filmed on the subway, and with a lot more nuance, and getting 1.8 million views for that! http://www.mainstreetpainesville.org/
