Posted November 26, 200618 yr My gf and I traveled to Chicago a couple weeks ago, and we spent the brief weekend exploring the Northside of Chicago (Wrigleyville, Lincoln Park, and everything inbetween along Clark St.) Here goes: Near Lincoln Park: Along Clark St. Wrigleyville: The classic Wrigley Field shot: Some other random shots near Millenium Park and Michigan Ave. I love Marina City! Trump International Hotel & Residences (under construction) Some various views: So long
November 26, 200618 yr You did a pretty good job of capturing the feel of Chicago, this time of year. I always enjoy the neighborhood up around Wrigley Field.
November 26, 200618 yr Ah, very cool! Is your girlfriend understanding about spending hours walking around a cold city while you snap photos? BTW, I love this shot - love all the layers, all the depth - draws you in:

November 27, 200618 yr That new Trump Tower on the Chicago River is a beast! What a massive footprint... Nice job by the way :) Chicago looks nice in any season.
November 27, 200618 yr Ah, very cool! Is your girlfriend understanding about spending hours walking around a cold city while you snap photos? Why yes she has become quite understanding about this urban exploring...she had to put up with in Philly then now in Chicago....she has also come to know that every vacation for me is preferably in a city :-D
November 27, 200618 yr Great Pics, Chicago is the best city in US. It really has all the good qualities of NYC, Boston, San Francisco and LA (yes even LA) all wrapped up into one place. The midwest really has some great cities, its a shame many of the coastal areas just see us as flyover country.
November 27, 200618 yr The irony of the "flyover" gist is that most flights from East and West Coasts have to "stop" in "Flyover" Country. O'Hare, DTW, CVG, MSP, Midway, etc. SO WHO'S FLYIN' NOW, B!TCHES!??! "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
November 27, 200618 yr not really cdm, dont kid yrself. not any flight that anyone would ever want to take anyway. besides, even if some east coaster fool did get a crap flight where they had to change planes somewhere to get to la, it does not make it any less flyover country. excellent shots unc, got more?
November 28, 200618 yr Very sweet, thanks UR. Makes me wish I knew Chi-town better. As for the term "fly-over", I really dig living in NYC but lord knows, it's not because of the parochial natives.

November 28, 200618 yr ^oy with the cursing and the sarcasm. who ever wants to change planes? ugh. otoh, dont get me wrong, i am a fan of the big cleveland.
November 28, 200618 yr The big Cleveland doesn't exist. Medium-sized Cleveland is in stock, though. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
November 30, 200618 yr sorry guy but chicago is the big cleveland. it's the medium sized cleveland that has shrunk.
November 30, 200618 yr If I remember correctly, that under that L bridge is an alley. During the day I saw some bums holding onto a bum and another one clocked him. It didn't register for a little while what had occurred. Ah, Chicago.
November 30, 200618 yr It's a toddling town! More of Clark Avenue, please. I really like that area. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
November 30, 200618 yr Clark St reminds me of the seedier northern side of the Short North, but on a much bigger scale. I'd also like someone to show some pics of Astor St, some nice photo ops there.
November 30, 200618 yr More of Clark Avenue, please. I really like that area. Sorry I don't have more for you  I was with my gf, who was being VERY patient with me, but I didn't want to be a nuisance...and it was EXTREMELY COLD!!!! So these are all the pics I have for now, I will be returning to good ol' Chicago in a month or so...you can expect more pics following that trip. I will definately hit up more of the Northside...so gorgeous!!!!
December 1, 200618 yr sorry guy but chicago is the big cleveland. Tempting to compare, I know, but you really think so? Certainly Chicago is not much like East Coast cities (for better and for worse) but other than a Great Lake, I don't really see big Cleveland either.
December 6, 200618 yr Tempting to compare, I know, but you really think so? Certainly Chicago is not much like East Coast cities (for better and for worse) but other than a Great Lake, I don't really see big Cleveland either. I do, esp West Side Cleveland from, say, Ohio City thru Det-Shoreway and Edgewater into Lakewood. Probably the flatness and hodge-podge of intersting neighborhood architecture hugging a lakeshore. Also, Cleveland and Chicago share a culture: plain spoken, yet cultural. Beer 'n a shot, sports crazy cheek-to-jowl w/ yuppies... the downside is that both cities are extremely racially polarized to near legendary proportions... and that's not likely to change in the near future ... and, of course, there's the weather, which breeds a sort of toughness in the peoples of both places... Of course the difference is in scale -- Chicago's density is so much greater than Cleveland, Detroit, Milwaukee and any other Midwestern city. I'm not alone, obviously... many, many people make the Chicago-Cleveland comparison... One local radio-talker dubbed Cleveland: Chicago Lite.
