Posted December 3, 200618 yr Fun times at Northern Illinois University after a storm dumped over 12 inches of snow and the winds created deep snow drifts! Needless to say, snowball fights abounded :-D My beautiful Lumina:

December 3, 200618 yr Brrr...that sure looks cold. Man, I ain't looking forward to that! I'm sitting in front of a fire right now!

December 3, 200618 yr we were suppose to get a "storm" in NYC. the tempeture just dropped from 70 to 50, still no snow! Lets keep it that way!
December 4, 200618 yr My beautiful Lumina: Never before has that phrase been uttered, written or conceived. LOL I actually call my car "The Beast"...............it can put up with anything. It's driven through flood waters, weathered golf-ball-sized hail, hit morning doves and squirrels, knocked a mailbox off its post ( :-D), and only has 119,000 miles on it (not too bad for a '91 model). So, in this sentimental guy's heart, my Lumina is a beautiful creature. :-)
December 4, 200618 yr 119K is astonishing for a GM ride of this ilk. Not to rile the jinxes, but I drove an '81 Olds Omega and an '83 Chevy Cavalier into the ground at precisely this mileage. Same for a '95 Saturn, but technically it was the guy in the Jeep blowing the stop sign at 35 mph that did me in.
December 4, 200618 yr My '93 Olds just died (actually more like I decided it was best not to put it on life support) this spring at over 199,000 miles--although not quite to 200,000, but ya never know...maybe "The Beast" still has a long life ahead. :) Anyway, nice pictures. I'm definitely not ready for 12" of snow yet. Just the flurries this morning were enough to make me cringe.

If you still had the vehicle, GM would probably buy it back from you in order to analyze it and determine what went so horribly, horribly wrong.
December 4, 200618 yr I remember my first big snowstorm as a student at OSU. We trudged down to the oval, and when we got there it looked like something from the civil war... there must have been literally 1000 people on each side firing snowballs back and forth. then we went home and burned our couch for warmth... ok, kidding about that part... or am I?.... wow... the good old days...
December 4, 200618 yr If you still had the vehicle, GM would probably buy it back from you in order to analyze it and determine what went so horribly, horribly wrong. LOL! Actually it has just been sitting in my garage, but I have a friend who runs a soup kitchen and they have a patron who is looking for a car to get to doctor's appts, grocery store, etc. and it sounds like they may be interested in trying to fix it up. So I think I'm just going to give it to them, along with my wishes of luck--unless, of course, GM comes along with a nice check.
December 5, 200618 yr So how 'bout that snowstorm! :-D "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck

If you still had the vehicle, GM would probably buy it back from you in order to analyze it and determine what went so horribly, horribly wrong. My 2001 Monte Carlo SS has 92,000 miles on it. My old 85 SS had 157,000 on it before a drunk driver ran a light and totally my car in college. BTW, that storm missed us, thank god. We haven't had any snow stick in SW Ohio.
December 8, 200618 yr My 1998 Trans Am has 90,000 miles on it and still is running ok. Did have to get the differential replaced about 10,000 miles ago and have had to do a lot of minor work (EGR valve, seals & gaskets, power antenna). Check engine light just came on yesterday though... so we'll see what's the problem now!
December 8, 200618 yr Still no snow in Toledo yet. I actually want a good storm before I leave so I can take some nice winter photos. Lies! I drove through a mini-storm on my way to Detroit on Monday night in Toledo. Ask Hayward! December 8, 200618 yr Columbus got a dusty inch on Wednesday, and cold dangerously close to "dog-kicking" severity. Meet, anyone?
December 8, 200618 yr I like looking at that quantity of snow right after its fallen, but it sure makes it tough to go about your business in. I drove my '93 Lumina to 175k, and then gave it to my cousin. Of course, I had to replace the tranny at 140k.
December 10, 200618 yr Ha Ha. NWS records show Cleveland has had 9.5 inches so far in December, and 1.4 inches in November. And that was at Hopkins, the least snowy side of town. Unfortunately, it's melting fast, with most of it likely to be gone by Monday morning. http://www.nws.noaa.gov/climate/index.php?wfo=cle "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
December 10, 200618 yr ^ Cincinnati has only has .5 inches so far this season. You reminded me of another reason why I am happy to live in SW Ohio.
December 15, 200618 yr ^ Cincinnati has only has .5 inches so far this season. You reminded me of another reason why I am happy to live in SW Ohio. Indeed. .5 inches yet somehow Cincy drivers managed to screw up during that too. -_-
December 15, 200618 yr Indeed. .5 inches yet somehow Cincy drivers managed to screw up during that too. -_- Those are the ones that go out in it. There are many more who stay huddled up inside with their 3 week supply of milk, bread, and batteries.
December 15, 200618 yr ^ Yep. Cant forget about those smart peeps. Half a inch of snow and the whole town acts dumb. Only in Cincy...
December 16, 200618 yr ^ Maybe you should get out more. For one, I was in that weather and the roads were very slippery from the layer of ice underneath our 1/2 inch of snow. I can see very easily how it would be easy to wreck. Every city I have lived in or visited during my many travels has whined about how their local commuters can't drive in the snow so... no, not only in Cincy.
December 19, 200618 yr ^ /facepalm. I was out in the snow too...I thought I had said that. Anyways, roads weren't that bad where I was at and people were still having trouble driving. Not only that, I have XP(experience) driving in moderate snow/ice without any problems. But then again thats just me so whatever, maybe I'm expecting too much. I was a bit in error with my only in cincy comment but that was some sarcasm there.
