Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C) recently announced that a new Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Library was to be built on the Metro Campus in downtown Cleveland (The Quadrangle). It would reside on E. 30th St. at Woodland Avenue. Not my favorite spot for this to be built, but nonetheless, another great addition to our city! I don't have any other info. so at the request of other members, any full articles or announcements available at this time?

Mostly it's going to be built at the location selected because there's not much land left that they can use on the Metro Campus, and it would then be nearly adjacent to the theater/arts building.  I think the building will consist of studio space (for the Recording Arts program), the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame archives/library, some performance space, and office space for the Performing Arts division.  It's not going to be a big building, and architecturally, it will fit in with the rest of the campus, bland as it is, though it'll also have a notable nod to the Rock Hall, too.

I agree, it doesn't impress me at all!

At the Rock Hall pyramid is interesting, especially from the inside.

Who cares what it looks like on the Tri-C campus.  How will it help Cleveland, the RNRHOF?  Will it provide jobs and leave a legacy?

In this case, the content and the reason for the addition is more important than the design of the design of the building.

I choose form over function any day.

it would fit right in with typical bgsu campus buildings.  :|

ah well, what goes on inside is more important.

I agree.

which does 'off the shelf' fall under!?!

Tri-C is apparently developing a center for tech and energy research.  It is going through neighborhood design review on Aug. 24th:

From the Tri-C's project management website:

Metro Campus Emerging Technologies and Energy Center

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This project will consist of the construction of a new 50,000SF building located at the Northeast corner of East 30th and Woodland Avenue. The new building will include program space for workforce development, alternative energies, construction technologies, public safety institute and engineering. All spaces are designed to provide flexibility due to the focus on quick changing industry needs.  Many of the administrative functions for these programs will be included in this project. This building will be designed to achieve a LEED Silver Certification.

CURRENT STATUS

An early site package is scheduled to go out for bid in May 2010 with construction to start in early to mid June 2010. The anticipated project completion is December 2011. Project is currently in the Design Phase.
