Posted December 4, 200618 yr Over the weekend, my S.O. and I took a little jaunt over to the Artcraft Building on Superior Avenue. It's located at 2570 Superior (East 25th and Superior). I didn't get a shot of the exterior but here's a small pic from the artistsofcleveland.com site: The Artcraft Building was the site of the 19th annual Open Studio show and sale. Lots of cool work by a variety of artists, and great views of the city to boot. Here's a sample of what I saw that day: Heading out up West 14th, there's a nice a glimpse of 200 Public Square (with Terminal Tower casting a cool shadow): The standard Innerbelt shot: With a zoom on the AT&T Building, Cleveland Trust Tower, and Jacobs Field: Stupid RTA - don't they know I was trying to get a shot at 60mph?!? Once at the sale, we check out some great photo work: And more great photo work: Like I said, this building has some great views - you could see the Lake, and thus - this freighter making its way from the port: Pulsar Paper - holy crap, these people were making a killing - every other person had some kind of roll of paper. Any kind, any color - they had it! On the top floor was an arrangement of all kinds of artists - metalsmiths, glassblowers, painters, etc. Peeking out the windows, I got some nice shots to the east. You can see the Nottingham-Spirk headquarters and St. Ann's Church in Cleveland Heights from here. Most of the western facing windows weren't accessible. Looking up Superior, we see Tyler Village - a series of huge warehouse buildings being renovated for live/work space: The church is St. Josaphat's - now converted into art gallery space: The large highrise in the center is Willson Towers, located at East 55th and Chester: A closer look at the Tyler Village project: The mammoth Masonic Auditorium and the glassy Applied Industrial Technologies HQ: A closer look: A lot of kids were at the show: A southern view, showing Fenn Tower (on Cleveland State University's campus) at the right, and the Euclid Avenue Methodist Church on the left. A closer view: Lots of colorful pieces for sale: As we left the Artcraft Building, this view stopped me in my tracks - the sunlight was at a perfect level with the downtown skyscrapers: I give this nifty little building a few months before it's occupied: Heading back towards the Innerbelt, I snap a pic of Chester Avenue, with Cleveland State's campus on the left: Finally on the Innerbelt - I'd love this view if it weren't for the wires: A view up East 9th Street: Good night! clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram

December 5, 200618 yr I was in a building on Perkins & 36th today and the views were even better than those that I experienced in Tyler Village. These loft buildings are just incredible! Thanks for sharing MayDay!
December 5, 200618 yr Too bad it is one of the buildings proposed to come down when the innerbelt reconstruction is underway - whenever that is. Or am I thinking of a different building?
December 5, 200618 yr Thanks. I stand corrected... plus I looked at the Innerbelt Conceptual Alternatives Study and confirmed it is NOT one of the potential 15 takes.
December 5, 200618 yr Beautiful twilight shots, and that building looks like a magnificent space with lots of natural light and great views.
December 9, 200618 yr With a zoom on the AT&T Building, Cleveland Trust Tower, and Jacobs Field: What you say is Jacobs Field looks like Gund (I refuse to call it Quick-E Mart or whatever it is now!) Arena.
December 9, 200618 yr But Jacobs Field is visible to the right side of the image. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck

December 9, 200618 yr mayday, great eye man! my favorite is the view that "stopped you dead in your tracks" the light is fantastic - anyway you can send it my way? it'd make a great desktop photo! thanks again for the sharing your enlightening views of our fair city!
December 9, 200618 yr I love all the shots of the warehouses!!! Great to hear that they are seeing new life.
December 9, 200618 yr But Jacobs Field is visible to the right side of the image. I'm sorry, but I don't see it. I was expecting to see those big mega-light posts that shine on the Jacobs Field diamond. :-o
December 9, 200618 yr This is an interesting building, at first I thought it was an old church, but looking at it more I'm not so sure. Nice pics!
December 10, 200618 yr I'm sorry, but I don't see it. I was expecting to see those big mega-light posts that shine on the Jacobs Field diamond. :-o Some computer screens, including my home screen, can't show the entirety of images that are larger than 575 pixels. But there is a way I can -- and probably you can, too. Put your mouse's cursor on the image and click on it. Then use the right arrow key to scroll right. Wha-la! You should be able to see the whole image -- including Jacobs Field. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
December 10, 200618 yr I'm sorry, but I don't see it. I was expecting to see those big mega-light posts that shine on the Jacobs Field diamond. :-o Can you see it now??
December 10, 200618 yr This is an interesting building, at first I thought it was an old church, but looking at it more I'm not so sure. Ditto... My guess is a former church or fire station?
December 10, 200618 yr ^^ I would guess it was a church...but I DO know it is not an old fire station....
December 10, 200618 yr I think it's pretty clearly a former church. Note the Gothic entries, and the evidence that there was once a bell tower, now truncated, on the near corner. Also, in the near end, the arched window that probably contained elaborate stained glass has been bricked in and replaced with smaller windows, probably for energy savings.
