Beautiful houses.

I always laughed at how some of my Detroit friends try to up their status by saying they are from Boston-Edison when they are really from the hoods nearby.

I heard about some renovations of apt buildings starting up on Chicago Ave.  Did you happen to see anything?

Where is this neighborhood in relation to downtown? I've never heard of Boston-Edison before but I would like to visit it. It took me a full scan through the thread to realize you weren't showing pictures from the cities of Boston and Detroit!

^About three-four miles north of downtown on the west side of Woodward Ave.

What a cute house...absolutely love it!

Grand old neighborhood, and it looks like it has held up well.

i love this neighborhood.

also try some of the nonexclusive neighborhoods as well, like, University District or East English Village. Or Brightmoor .

Surprise! It's Detroit.

Incredible.

Have been in a few of these.  One house in particular I thought was located on Cass Park....south of BE...anywho.  A lot of these houses have gone downhill fast since these pics were taken.

I'd live there :) ;)

Maybe I'll have to do a new photo thread of Boston Edison :)

B-E unfortunately took a turn for the worst this past year.

that was only a few short years ago! How can a neighborhood that looks like this deteriorate so fast?? :wtf:

From what I've seen on streetview BE looks to be in good shape. Still, it's a shame that the population is likely getting lower in light of the fact that the metro area has grown to over 4 million people, which is more than enough people to fill in Detroit (at it's peak when there many more buildings)...x2.

Man, detroit used to be such a nice city, when people think of detroit they think of one of the most successful cities in the world but in reality it is the complete opposite.

Too bad the demographics took a shift for the worse.

1. Foreclosure

2.  It's Detroit.  As much as some of us love the grit and architecture of cities, others are committed to providing their family a better life.  A good solution is to bail on Detroit where schools, police, city services, local government are absolute havoc.

I'd like to cheer lead the city, but it'd be hard to be honest.  Detroit definitely has some bright spots....Eastern market, midtown, SW Detroit, etc.  However, the fact is Detroit has a much as good as other cities have bad.  If the negatives didn't outweight the positives so much people wouldn't be leaving.  Doesn't mean I don't have faith in the city making a turn around, rather it's just that I don't care anymore.  Give me a call in 40 years.
