Official opening is confirmed for the summer, Renovations are underway, they have started to hire management for the HardRock Cafe also they have received a large Guitar but it hasn’t been installed yet.

Also if they ever add a hotel it may be one of their new Reverb properties, we shall see:

How would they be able to link the hotel and casino with the garage in the middle? I assume they would want a more direct routes between the two and not have their guests walking through a garage.

If it were my decision, I'd put the hotel on Court St in the roughly 120'x400' footprint south of the garage where the access drive and roundabout are currently. Not my decision, though, and I have no idea what the casino owners will decide.

The Greyhound bus station does have a for sale sign out in front of it...

Really? That’s interesting. I really wish they would outfit the riverfront transit center and move ops there

I'll be honest I was expecting fake news, but it's true.

The listing is set for $4.5 million

I wonder where they're going to move it. As far as I know that stop does pretty well.

😮

I was driving by sometime in late January and saw the for sale sign posted. Forgot about it until the recent HR news.

I think if there was a developer smart enough they could easily attract an apartment tower on that plot of land and market it for the younger/kids free crowd who are attracted to going out and blowing lots of money on gambling and alcohol.

Saw some guy on a lift this morning. He was working on the sign facing 71. Perhaps there is some external branding imminent.

I’ve been told the big grand opening might be pushed back to September/October unfortunately, due to construction delays. They are really spending some big cash on projects in the building. On the bright side the first big piece - Hard Rock Cafe is scheduled to open in 3-4 weeks, they are starting the training of the service team next week.

My only question is this:  WHERE IS THE BUFFET?  It isn't on the website!  I want to speak to the MANAGER!!!

OK Karen, you have to remember that buffets are going to be one of the last things to come back after COVID.

Cincy's best Chinese Buffet (Twin Dragon) has been open all along. They put up plastic shields around the buffet lines and made if cafeteria style.

About the 2nd or 3rd call I was allowed to take myself when I started in the video game business in Florence was from one called Double Dragon. I'm looking at the Caller ID and wondered how something called "Double Dragon" was calling the retro gaming store. Like did someone kidnap my girlfriend and it was the captors inviting me to fight my way to her?

Hard Rock Cafe opening July 15th

I didn't get photos since I was driving down Reading, but the Hard Rock added a bunch of openings to face Reading and I assume that's the Cafe. I like that everything won't just be internally facing and the beige monolith is getting broken up a little bit.

I assumed the construction along Reading Road is for this:

Quote

The casino is building out an outdoor smoking patio that will be covered and climate controlled to protect against the elements, while hosting slot machines and table games that Goldhoff said will be the first of its kind in Ohio.

and that the Hard Rock Cafe would be located in the former Margaritaville space. But that's just a guess.

Yeah that makes sense. I've only been in the casino once, and it was for a comedy show so I guess I just have no concept of where stuff was, but I'm sure the Hard Rock Cafe will go in the old Margaritaville just so they can re-use existing kitchen hoods and facilities, that's a huge cost so I'm sure they won't move it.

Either way I hope the street presence on Reading is improved by whatever they are doing, but I guess it can't get much worse than a blank wall since you will hopefully be able to see some activity and action from the exterior.

That crowd is already to the Northwest and Downtown. If a developer wanted to market units to the casino’s core audience, they’d probably be better off building a retirement home.

In anticipation of sports betting becoming legal in Ohio, the Hard Rock Cafe will also house a Sports Book wagering site. The cafe has a stage that can accommodate a 12-piece band, with a dance floor for live music three nights a week.

The Ohio Senate overwhelmingly passed a bill to legalize sports betting in the state on June 16. The bill is now before the Ohio House, and legislators have set a self-imposed deadline of June 30 to send the bill to Gov. Mike DeWine.

Legislators estimate the total legal sports betting market in Ohio would be about $2.8 billion. The renovations coming as part of the rebranding include still-to-come items like new dining options, including a Harvest Buffet and Council Oaks Steak & Seafood; a Hard Rock Live music venue; and a Hard Rock Hotel.

Im not familiar with the layout of the current casino.

Does anyone where the hard rock live music venue would squeeze in?

When the lease was originally announced, it was reported that the second-floor ballroom would be converted into the music venue.

Apparently, it will have a capacity of 2,000 placing it between Bogart's (1.5k) and Taft Theatre (2.5k). For comparison, Promowest will have an indoor capacity of 2,700 which is also about the same as the Aronoff.

The guitar is being assembled right as I type this near the entrance plaza for the Hard Rock Cafe.

  • 2 weeks later...

soooooo they are going to leave the signage covered up with black garbage bag looking plastic until the fall? Idiots. If that’s the case they should have just waited to install the guitar and main signage. Also why the fall? From what I’ve heard the only thing they are waiting for is construction on the new steakhouse to wrap up, but why hold the grand opening up for that.

Edited by 646empire

Another head scratcher, they installed the Hard Rock signage along I-71/Gilbert Ave. and then took them down the next day.

Maybe for the hard rock live upstairs?

I was in the casino on the day they had the ribbon cutting for the Hard Rock Cafe. They are still in the process of installing the memorabilia around the main casino area. They are still also working on building the "Smoking Patio West" which is the new area that's under construction along Eggleston. The top floor of the Hard Rock Cafe is still under construction as well. So I'm guessing they want to finish all of the above before having a true grand opening event for the Hard Rock Casino later in the year, even though the Cafe is already open.

Columbus transit authority buys Columbus grey hound station for mixed use development…it would be nice if Hard Rock or someone buys the current for sale grey hound station and creates something worthwhile there as well.

Didnt someone up thread say the Casino already bought the greyhound station? Also if it’s for sale doesn’t that imply greyhound already has a new Cincinnati station/location in mind? Where is it I wonder?????

Looks good and about time!! The Guitar at the main entrance was really nice can’t wait for them to unwrap it too. On a side note I’ve only been hearing good things about the casino with Hard Rocks renovation and management of the property.

Edited by 646empire

It’s been a beautiful transformation of the property. Looks very classy and glitzy.

Anyone know when hard rock live is supposed to open?

I've never been to the casino before, but I might swing by now to get a "Hard Rock Cincinnati" tee shirt. Gotta get one before it changes names again.

LOL, true. Although I think Hard Rock will be keeping this property for the long term.

It's driving me insane that they did this sign in just a sans serif typeface. Missed opportunity to use the stylized text logo. Somebody was probably paid very well to make this terrible decision. Bah!
