It's driving me insane that they did this sign in just a sans serif typeface. Missed opportunity to use the stylized text logo. Somebody was probably paid very well to make this terrible decision. Bah!

Oh no, I didn't notice that. It cannot be unseen now.

When I saw this the first time they installed the sign, I thought they took it down because it was the wrong font!

Design in 2021 only allows one font and it's that one. Everything is getting de-branded to it.

It's incredibly bizarre that they didn't just use the same logo that they installed on the other side of the building:

Interesting that the “front lawn on Eggleston” is a potential site for the hotel. That surprised me.

Just imagine the views….. of inmates. I’m not digging that location unless they were to incorporate some kind of angled design to limit the direct views of the jail across the street. Or maybe a little bit more parking to elevate the hotel structure.

Eggleston site:

Pros: More than likely taller due to the smaller footprint than the other site.

Cons: Takes the front yard (isn’t the stage on this plot?)away from the casino and detracts from the main entrance unless they are planning on incorporating a new entrance into the hotel.

Additional site:

Pros: Keeps the main entrance intact. Takes away an awkward lot that would prolly not get built on unless there’s a casino expansion.

Cons: Is attached at the parking lot not to the casino itself (plan on some sort of covered walkway?). Will probably be shorter than the other site.

imo I like either the greyhound bus location or the parking lot directly south of the casino to be used, but still excited to get the hotel none the less.

I can’t imagine building a hotel right in front of the entrance without the casino building a new entrance….I mean isn’t the guitar and everything located front and center there? Are they really going to have to relocate everything?

Im thinking they could make the hotel and the casino entrance into 1 which could be quite flashy if done right.

yeah I could see that…only slight disappointment is that I feel there are so many nearby empty lots that could fit a hotel.

Not sure if hard rock will ever expand the property…I know there were a rumor of a  hard rock e-sports arena thrown around a while back. Not sure if that’s still something hard rock wants to do.

I thought I read the casino bought the bus station. If so, I think the best location would be at illustration B. It is connected to existing parking. It is close to the interstate, views of Mt. Adams (both back sides) and views of the city(both front sides). Plus probably the best location for a terrace cafe. It also could be easy to connect the hotel to the casino.

If location A is chosen, it is also connected to parking but the view of city gets lots of casino roof. The worst location would be the front lawn. There is no easy way to the garage.

Because they own the garage and it’s so large I doubt parking will be an issue. If they choose the front lawn for the hotel they can easily roll out free valet for hotel guests which will be a huge selling point over other hotels downtown.

Through the casino sounds like a casino solution to that problem.

So with the greyhound space becoming available I hope the casino decides to purchase this lot and make it mixed use.

I know hard rock was saying they could put residential or offices in that spot but I think the best decision would be to make a Las Vegas style Newport on the levee - open air entertainment district. Maybe adult only at night.

Downtown doesn’t really have something like this and could be a good way to draw more people in and maybe help boost the casino revenue.

Hard Rock had the opportunity to buy it and they didn't. Chavez will keep it as a parking lot "until developers buy it for an office, retail, hotel or housing project."

just because they haven’t bought it now, doesn’t mean they won’t have the opportunity to buy that lot in the future... I’m sure part of its a waiting game to see if they can the price to drop, and I’m sure the casino already has their hands full with the casino renovations and working on the hotel site.

regardless, it’s right off 1-71 so whatever ends up being there will have a lot of exposure.

I don’t see residential working there though just because I’m not sure who wants to live right next to a noisy highway and live right next to the casino…

office could work, but again, I don’t know how much demand there is right now for office space due to the current work from home age.

it seems hard rock is being pretty aggressive with this site, so I’m hoping there are potential future phases in the pipeline that could involve various expansions.

The City could help the development along a lot if they demolished the unnecessary Gilbert Avenue viaduct

https://www.google.com/amp/s/local12.com/amp/news/local/greyhound-terminal-sale-raises-questions-of-sites-future-use-where-bus-line-will-move-to-cincinnati

So this other article doesn’t explicitly deny that hard rock might be interested in the greyhound location.

Right off the highway exit would be the perfect billboard to advertise your new hard rock hotel. It has the most visibility and makes the most sense location wise.

Im just curious how far is it from the actual casino though? I guess the only downfall is that it’s not directly connected the casino property itself.

Hard Rock Casino details plans for new downtown hotel

Plans for the long-awaited hotel on the grounds of Cincinnati's downtown casino are taking shape.

Hard Rock International Chief Operating Officer Jon Lucas confirmed the Hard Rock Casino's next phase of development will include a 250- to 300-room hotel on its 22-acre property in the Broadway Commons area of downtown Cincinnati.

Lucas in an emailed statement said the location, size and scope are still being finalized.

"We anticipate between 250-300 rooms including a Rock Spa, Body Rock fitness center, meeting and event space, but still need to go through all the planning and design process for this project," he said. "We hope to begin construction in the near future.”

I don't recall... but if it sold for double list price, it makes me wonder if Chavez and Hard Rock got into a bidding war.

Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati unveils sports betting area: PHOTOS

By Steve Watkins  –  Staff reporter, Cincinnati Business Courier

Nov 1, 2022

Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati showed off its sports betting facility Tuesday, two months to the day before it and others in Ohio can begin offering legal sports betting.

The Hard Rock Sportsbook will open Jan. 1 at 12:01 a.m., the minute sports betting can be offered legally in the Buckeye State.

It will feature six betting windows and 33 kiosks for gamblers to place bets on a wide variety of sports, Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati President George Goldhoff said. The facility is adjacent to the Hard Rock Cafe within the casino. It also will feature 137 TVs.

In a recent episode of the Courier's Above the Fold podcast, Justin Wyborn confirmed they will "definitely have a hotel" and said the location would be along Court St. "There's a few acres that are just perfectly right up alongside not only the casino but also the parking structure. And we're obviously looking to go up quite a few stories."

He went on to say the timeline is a bit uncertain, but implied that they're just waiting on things to line up with the parent Hard Rock organization.

I haven't seen any announcement about the outdoor stage coming back this summer, but I just checked the event calendar and they have several shows listed for the Outdoor Stage.

I don’t know if they’ll be announcing the hotel any time soon, but they already have it listed in their app:

A one-hit wonder from 13 years ago. 😬

Rebecca Black has really revived her career and is a pretty popular DJ.
