November 4, 20159 yr Does anyone actually care about this casino? I like the (basically) free concerts That Judas Priest concert was the loudest thing I've ever heard from two miles away. It sounded like they were testing jet engines.

November 18, 20159 yr Ohio State launches legal battle with Cincinnati casino Ohio State University is trying to stop Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati from trademarking the name of its entertainment venue. Courier sister publication Columbus Business First reports Ohio State has filed legal action the casino’s parent company, Caesars Entertainment Corp. (Nasdaq: CZR), to keep it from trademarking “The Shoe.” It seems like it would be pointless to fight this battle since the Cincinnati casino won't be called Horseshoe for much longer...
November 18, 20159 yr ^ Failure to enforce trademarks can actually result in losing said trademark, or at the very least hurt future cases. OSU probably doesn't actually want a legal battle with the casino, but needs to at least attempt to enforce their trademark. By filing now, they won't really have to battle in court, but they get the credit for pursuing the infringement, which will help them in future cases. Trademarks are very much so "use it or lose it," which is why you see some absurd cases from time to time. If you don't aggressively defend a trademark, others can slowly chip away at it.

November 19, 20159 yr I should have said: it would be pointless for Caeser's to fight this battle since they will probably stop using the name "The Shoe" in a few months. I fully understand why OSU has to fight to protect their trademark.
February 23, 20169 yr Cincinnati casino to get new name, branding The downtown Cincinnati venue will be renamed Jack Cincinnati Casino in early June to align with the rebranding of its parent company, Rock Gaming, as Jack Entertainment LLC.
February 23, 20169 yr Rock Cincinnati sounds better than Jack Cincinnati, IMO. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
February 23, 20169 yr This is what inspiration looks like: Poker face was her name Poker face was her nature Poker straight was her game If she knew she could get you She played 'em fast And she played 'em hard She could close her eyes And feel every card But how was I to know That she'd been shuffled before Said she'd never had a Royal Flush But I should have known That all the cards were comin' From the bottom of the pack And if I'd known what she was dealin' out I'd have dealt it back She's got the jack, she's got the jack She's got the jack, and who knows what else? She's got the jack, yeah, yeah She's got the jack, she's got the jack She's got the jack, she's got the jack She's got the jack, jack, jack, jack, jack, jack, jack She's got the jack
February 24, 20169 yr ^I've never liked the name Horseshoe anyway. I wonder what they will be rebranded as. Unbelievably, it's been rebranded as something even worse. UHG.

February 24, 20169 yr I bet there was a whiteboard with varies categories written on it, one of them being "playing card themes," under which words like "Queen" and "Spades"were written and hastily crossed out, until someone just settled on "Jack." They probably thought about going with Diamond's until someone Googled it and found out that name is already taken here in Cincy.

February 24, 20169 yr Isnt the Casino company Rock Gaming, why not name it something like the Rock Casino. From the Motor City, to the Rock N Roll City to the Cin City, the best gamers go to the Rock.

In fairness, a Queen theme would work on two levels for our market only, and they seem set on operating Detroit and Cleveland under the same brand. It would still ring pretty generic at the other locations.
February 25, 20169 yr I'm going to go out on a limb and guess the agency was an out of town agency and was overpaid by $100,000s.
May 6, 20169 yr New signs are going up on the temporary chain link fence around the lawn. The signs are advertising "The Back Yard at Jack" (apparently the new name for the lawn venue),"Prism Steak/Seafood", and "Market District Buffet".

May 7, 20169 yr Shouldn't it be The Front Yard? Yes, but front doesn't rhyme with Jack like back does. Bla bla, marketing talk, good idea, lets do it.
May 20, 20169 yr The one on I75 as well. All the local way finding signs will take a while. There are tons. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
May 21, 20169 yr It's pretty funny to me that Horseshoe can change its name to Jack and the signs are changed in a few months. Yet, there are still signs leading people to the "Coliseum," a name that changed 19 years ago.

May 23, 20169 yr Was it ever mentioned in this thread the inspiration of "Jack". Maybe I'm just slow on the uptake but it finally hit me that it could be for Jack Binion. Duh.
June 11, 20169 yr Jack Cincinnati Casino wants to add a huge LED sign downtown The owner of the recently reopened Jack Cincinnati Casino wants to add a huge LED sign to its existing 80-foot sign along Gilbert Avenue. Jack Entertainment LLC is requesting a modification of the existing 80-foot ground sign to include a “changeable copy sign” that would be 16 feet high by 28.5 feet long. The new LED sign would be integrated into the existing ground sign. October 11, 20168 yr Casino changes parking policy Finding free parking at downtown Cincinnati’s casino is about to become a little harder. Jack Cincinnati Casino will begin charging more of its garage users, including many of its membership card holders, to park in its garage on Oct. 17. October 11, 20168 yr They have threatened so many times that they were going to start charging for parking. I wonder if they'll actually do it this time.
April 5, 20196 yr Cincinnati's Casino, NKY's Track Changing Hands Cincinnati's casino and Northern Kentucky's racetrack will be changing hands. Investment company Vici Properties and Hard Rock International will pay $780 million for the properties in Pendleton and Boone County. Hard Rock Cafe will then lease the facilities. This explains why Jack has been in cost-cutting mode for the past year or two...they were preparing for a sale. My question is whether the Jack brand will stick around, or if it'll become Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati!
April 5, 20196 yr They will 100% change the branding. I see this as a good sign with the opportunity for new investment. May be the time when hotel/ large arena may be built? The Hard Rock in Cleveland has been killing the competition. I am sure all cincy area casinos were just put on notice.
April 5, 20196 yr I also wonder what this means for Turfway. I had heard rumors in NKY that the track is closing.
April 5, 20196 yr Pie in the sky dream is that they purchase one of the nearby massive parking lots by the casino and somehow squeeze in a new arena that could potentially be home to a NBA/NHL team. Hell, I wouldn't even mind an e-sports arena.

April 5, 20196 yr Interesting to hear about a brief bit of commentary about a Hard Rock Hotel and Hard Rock Cafe as potential future development by hard rock. I imagine they will probably look at those parking lots by the casino at some point.

Hell, I wouldn't even mind an e-sports arena. FC was the last pro team we're getting. How large are e-sports arenas? That's actually a pretty good idea. And if you build an e sports arena (which I'm assuming is a room with lots of seating and giant televisions I've never been to one) put it next to the casino and have it set up so that it can be a sports book lounge when not being used as an e-sports arena as sports betting will be legal in Ohio in the next 3 years.
