Hard Rock Live will take up the second floor conference space, some street improvements around the property including the addition of Hard Rock Branded Guitar Signage, and they talked about Hard Rock Hotel as a potential 2nd phase after they determine some factors like occupancy rates.

I literally said "what the f*ck" when I saw this:

But a new addition is expected to make a splash: the 24-Karat Gold Leaf Steakburger. That burger is topped with tomato, leaf lettuce and red onion, as well as edible 24-Karat gold leaf. A portion of all sales will benefit Action Against Hunger.

Usually the contractor, though everybody usually gets sued. Will depend on the cause if is design or construction process or materials.

This will likely have no impact on the Hard Rock Casino in Cincinnati. The company will lose some money (largely due to delays in opening and fighting lawsuits). It will be contractors and subcontractors who are footing the bill for the accident in all likelihood.

Yikes...prayers...but I wonder how much of an effect this will have on Cincinnati's Hard Rock Hotel future?? I imagine hard Rock will be drowning in lawsuits after this.

None. This will all be the responsibility of the construction company/companies and the property owners. Hard Rock issued a statement saying just that:

- “Citadel Builders LLC was contracted by Kailas Companies, owner of the project, to build the Hard Rock Hotel New Orleans based on a brand licensing agreement with Hard Rock International, the future manager of the hotel. Hard Rock has had no involvement in the construction of the project. We want to extend our deepest sympathies to victims of this tragic accident and to their loved ones and friends.”

I've noticed new Hard Rock Casino billboards around 1-71 recently. Pretty sweet to see Hard Rock in Cincinnati in general, and I can't wait to grab a Hard Rock Cincinnati shirt for the novelty sake.

Im not a subscriber either, but from what I've heard is that the hard rock hotel will feature "Las Vegas" like features..Luxery suites, rooftop pool, night club on ground level, etc. I'm not if this is what the article talks about though in terms of the unique features of the hard rock hotel coming.

The article just says they're beginning to explore/research adding a giant guitar sign and a hotel on the site.  Those are longer term "phase 2" plans.  Phase 1 is changing out the signage, "museum-quality" memorabilia displays, new carpeting and a Hard Rock Café in the old Margaritaville space.

So where do people think the best site within the Casino's property for the Hard Rock Hotel would be? My first pass idea is on top of the garage, if that is even possible. Plenty of benefits and deficits from a lot of different options within the open space of their property.

I would be shocked if they didn't build the hotel right there, where their drop off circle is now located. That's a 465ft x 125ft rectangle, or about 1.3 acres, plenty of room for a hotel. As a comparison, the new Tru by Hilton hotel that's going in next to the Corryville Kroger will be built on 0.65 acre lot.

Building on top of the garage would be good. It would have great views of downtown, Over-the-Rhine, and the Mt. Adams hillside. Building on the lawn near the main entrance at the corner of Eggleston and Central Parkway would create a lot more interaction with the street. That lawn creates such a deep setback and is rarely programmed. I doubt it gets built on that lawn because that would require a major reconfiguration of the casino's entrance.

With any talk of development around the casino, I get nervous about the future of the flatiron building at 401 E Court St.

I think the original developer of the casino set aside that grassy employee drop-off for a future hotel. The only other option I see is buying out the Greyhound Station, but I don't think they're interested in selling.

Imagine the city views at this location, especially if they build something in the ~15-20 story range.

Nationally, Greyhound has been selling off a lot of real estate in recent years. I think they would move if Hard Rock made them a good offer, but then the question becomes where do they relocate their operations. This would be the perfect opportunity to lure them into the Transit Center, but that would require a lot of coordination between Greyhound, the city, and Metro...

I think that footprint is probably the ideal footprint for a hotel. Would prefer something across the street, but this space will work. Would love to see a tower, but dont think it will be that high. You have to figure it will just be a hotel. They dont need to have space for conferences and meetings since the casino already has that space. The casino has their ball rooms, it already has restaurants and catering. Outside of rooms and a pool and workout facility, there is not much the hotel really would need on that space. It already has parking too.  Do  you see them building a 600-800 room hotel on the spot or do you think it will be more like 200 -300 rooms?

From looking at other hard rock hotels I would assume in the 200-300 range. The only thing I worry about are people on that side of MT. Adams complain about it taking their view of downtown away if they build something too tall.

I can certainly see the complaints happening , but there is way to much humor in complaining that a building blocks your view of other different buildings.

Does anyone know how tall a 200-300 room hotel on that footprint would likely be?

Not sure in regards to that particular footprint, but the average typical hard rock casino hotel is around 12 stories in height.

Probably end up with something similar to the Biloxi or Seminole properties. Just a wild guess.

I'm surprised that the owners of the casino haven't taken advantage of the closure to rebrand it as Hard Rock. As far as I can tell, there is no work happening in or around the casino and all of the Jack signage remains up. I'm not sure if they planned to repaint the entire building or anything that major, but they will at least need to do some work to refresh the interior, build out the new Hard Rock Cafe restaurant space, and install new signage.

True. Also if I’m not mistaken I read somewhere that the purchase agreement states the name change/Signage has to be up by May.

Statement regarding the casino's reopening (which happens on June 19) and rebranding:

Quote

Many of you have contacted us via social media with questions regarding re-opening dates, new procedures, and questions surrounding renovations and carpeting. While we continue our rebranding to a Hard Rock property, projected timelines were deferred due to many vendors we partner with also being closed, and materials scarcity.

Businesses around the country were impacted due to a lack of revenue, and Hard Rock was no different.  Despite our financial losses, we were fortunate to continue providing benefits to our staff. This was extremely important to us as team members are family and, our most valuable resource.

Believe me, I am as anxious as all of you to see Hard Rock Casino signage, the experience, the incomparable memorabilia and to dine at a Hard Rock Cafe. But for now, I ask for your understanding during what has become an extraordinary circumstance. Visible changes may not occurimmediately, but you have my word, I will continue to provide timely updates as I have throughout our closure.

New info out today.

- COVID stopped design and construction planning back in March

- Things are now back on track for a 2021 completion

- They are currently moving slot machines and such around the gaming floor to prepare for carpet installation early in the new year ( they will be completing this work in sections)

- Cincinnati will be getting some kind of giant guitar sign

- No word on when the Hard Rock Cafe will be ready but seems as tho it will open at the same time they throw a big grand opening party in summer or fall of 2021

- Also no update on a hotel (not surprising)

- They expect sports betting to be legalized in Ohio and they are ready

^ Also the Casino was killing it with very high revenues in October before Dewine started to put the newer restrictions in place which has now slowed business down.

There was a highway sign on I-71 that previously said "Jack Casino" and they have covered it up with just "Casino". So they must have had a hard deadline for when they had to eliminate all "Jack Casino" branding, but don't want to start using the "Hard Rock Casino" branding until they're ready to relaunch.

Exactly, if I remember correctly the purchase contract required them to remove the JACK brand by this past May (I could have the month wrong, but it was definitely in the agreement). And yeah your right it’s very clear they are not gonna put up official signage until the facility and everything else is absolutely ready to their liking.

Oh man, just one year without busloads of middle schoolers and they're done.

I heard about that, the lease expires in 2021 so they decided to not renew. It was a nice run tho for that location it’s been open for 15 years.

^ As a side note I wouldn’t be surprised if a couple memorabilia pieces are sent to the new Cincinnati location.

I like how that I-71 exit sign must have originally said Horseshoe, then Jack, now casino. It has several layers of metal covering all the changes and all different lengths.

Official opening is confirmed for the summer, Renovations are underway, they have started to hire management for the HardRock Cafe also they have received a large Guitar but it hasn’t been installed yet.

Also if they ever add a hotel it may be one of their new Reverb properties, we shall see:

The large guitar probably came from the defunct Hard Rock Cleveland.

I don’t think so, Cleveland closed like 5 years ago and had pretty old looking signage, also I’ve seen the Cincinnati guitar and it looks new, I guess it could have been restored too but I doubt it. I know memorabilia is moved between properties but I don’t think they need to recycle the signage lol. Also the Cleveland location signage was on a Cafe and not a giant casino so the size/format wouldn’t work.

^ ohhhh I remember there was also a hardrock Racino location thats now run by MGM near Cleveland. Anyway it looks nice and new but who knows haha.

Cincinnati to get Hard Rock Hotel

By Andy Brownfield  –  Staff Reporter, Cincinnati Business Courier

The downtown casino is in the midst of its rebranding to the Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati, and as that is underway its parent company is planning for a hotel to complement the facility.

Will this go across the street where the current parking lot crater is?

I sure hope it’s not above the current casino as I’ve been dying for the day for that parking lot crater to be wiped out by new development.

Wait, there's a Troeros2???

My guess would be max 7-8 floors on the parking lot just northeast of the garage currently. My bet is they are wanting to do somewhere around the 12 floor range but it will get backlash from the resident living in Mt. Adams that it will block their view of downtown and Hard Rock will cater to them and shave off a couple of floors. I’d love to see something in the 12 or even more floor range but I don’t think it’ll happen.

Mt. Adams NIYBY: We can't have a building like that blocking our view of the skyline.

In all seriousness, I don't think it will be a big problem. Uphill from where the pit is certainly not where the bulk of the high dollar views are.

That is true, people are paying for the river views and the views from the Celestial side. Highway views, even with the city Skyline and Pendleton are for the plebs.

For context, here are some approximate elevations:

  • 540': Intersection of Court/Gilbert
  • 700': Intersection of Elsinore/Wareham
  • 750': Intersection of Ida/Paradrome
