1. Take your google earth to Sun City, Arizona.

2. Let it finish zooming in

3.  Zoom out to an eye altitude of about 20,000 feet.

4. Pan north a little bit

radially symmetrical suburbs... weird

Sun City gave it away for me.

Seen it.  Definitely very strange.

I'm sorry, but that is scary as shit!!! :-o :-o

It is quite interesting...but what scared me was the thing up the road from here.  If you travel NW along the diagonal road that goes through Sun City you will come upon this triangular looking landscape on the northern side of the road....what the heck is that?!?!?!

Looks like a strip mine if I'm looking at the right spot. AZ has lots of them.

Wikimapia says it's a WWII-era landing strip.

Still, triangles in that setting are a bit unusual.

UFO landing strip?

Interesting to see that so many of the section squares are sudivided into half-mile or quarter-mile blocks.  I'm sure that this improves traffic flow considerably over areas where the sections were occupied by seperate farms which sold out at different times.  Compare these squares to the section squares in West Chester -- the perfectly surveyed squares of Arizona versus the sloppily surveyed section lines of the Cincinnati area, the second area in the entire United States to be subdivided into township sections.

^thanks, I didn't know how to do that.
