Posted December 26, 200618 yr I have so many pictures from Michigan towns that I'm not going to bother making threads for every one. Instead I will just go by county. I've always liked Livingston County, kinda rural but has some great little towns also, the best being Howell. There are a few places in Livingston County I still want to hit up so by making this thread I can just add them on. If you have pictures from any of the counties I am making threads for then feel free to add them in. I will put the cities in order by my favorites. The number in parenthesis is the cities population. Howell (9,315) Downtown Howell is a historic district. It has a reputation for not liking blacks, a while back they sold a Klan suit at an auction. It doesn't help that all townships and cities in Livingston County are between 95 and 98 percent white (if I remember correctly). Brighton (6,904) During the summer I am always going to Brighton to feed the ducks and geese in the lake downtown with my girlfriend. Fowlerville (3,072) Pinckney (2,362) Hamburg Hell These were taken during the 666 party (June 6, 2006) ^Could the Atheists people be any funnier looking?
December 26, 200618 yr Great photos Zach. They stopped loading for me at Hamburg no matter how many times I refreshed, but from what I can see, Livingston has a few nice small towns. I pass through this county whenever I go back home to Saginaw from Ann Arbor. I've only been to one town, which was brighton. The rest I'm passing at 80 mph on US-23. Unfortunately this is the most boring part of my journey home, that by the time I reach Tyrone township, I need to stop and get some coffee.
December 26, 200618 yr Ah, Howell. *scowls* "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
January 23, 200718 yr I was in the area today so I had to get a picture of the Pink Hotel/Western House/Brighton Hotel. It was built in 1873 but could be getting demolished for a new 4-story building. Random shot
January 23, 200718 yr lovely town, I really admire how brave those athiests are, becuase there are the smart christians, who don't attack anyone who belives in something else and has there public rallies, and then the retarded christians, who think they own the place and try to destroy other peoples ideas, I really respect smart christians, becuase alot of the ones I know are good people, but the retarded ones, really need to be hit in the face with frying pans, if they were peacefully exhibiting there faith, then I would be fine with it, but it looks as if they are attacking them. Other than that, I adore that town, I love the tiny chapels and the old buildings, very scandanavian.
January 27, 200718 yr On the second floor of this building is the Howell Opera House (built 1880). A few months back I was able to walk around the opera house which hasn't been used since 1924. It's amazing walking around such an old, historic place.
January 27, 200718 yr Didn't I read somewhere that the were renovating the old opera house as a performing arts center? I'm not a huge fan of the Brighton/Howell area--home to the Michigan KKK. I have an Indian friend that was verbally assulted there. It amazes me that there are people who live in this area that make the trek into Detroit every day for work. It is a good 40 miles, at least.
February 5, 200916 yr Sorry for such a late response, that's correct preservation restoration, it is now a performing arts center. They did an excellent job. Just thought you guys would be interested to know that the courthouse in Howell is going to serve as a backdrop for the movie "Betty Anne Waters" starring Hillary Swank. It is a legal thriller based on a true story.
