looking back up Central Ave. from near Liberty.  You can just see the old Hudepohl/Schoenling plant (now Samuel Adams!! :)) on the right.

This part of town has a LONG way to go.  IMHO the whole Brewery District will have to be going great guns before this area catches on (if ever).

Peace

Great photos! A cool area for sure!

Awesome.

Thank you so much for not including the Family Dollar.

superb tour.

very heartening seeing the old hardware store, not just because its a great looking building, but also because the independent hardware stores are dropping away like flies to the home depot monster chains.

you were not kidding about the rough row shot, yikes thats depressing.

these two in the middle really caught my attention, they look like maybe they used to be carriage houses?

I second that...the tour was depressing enough as it is, without the travestry of the Family Dollar on Central Parkway!  Thx for the pics!!

This looks pretty bleak from behind but it is actually the home of a successful photo studio (OMS ?) and some other comapnies are in there, too.

The walkway that you didn't post is supposed to get torn down sometime which is a damn shame for the, like 0.000002 % of the population that still walks.

The junk car lot is a serious eyesore but it gets some interesting cars once in a while.

As far as the Family Dollar, as was pointed out, the area has a long way to go & frankly I see ANY investment as a good sign.

ok, I could have done without the investment of whoever put up the relay tower at the north end of the street.

I usually go down the street about 7 in the morning in the summer. Cool light & the natives are usually asleep except for the little storefront church right behind the weird statue. Sometimes they have some serious fire & brimstone preaching going on at the friggin crack of dawn in the middle of the week.

An interesting area, thanks for the pics.

Are you talking about the Baymiller Steps / Bridge?  I certainly hope not.

The building at right used to be home to Auf der Fricko Eisenbahn, a local dealer for Marklin, LGB, and other expensive German model railroad products and other hobby brands.  That store was previously located downtown on the 6th or 7th floor of an old office building on 4th St., I went there as a kid but can't remember which building it was, other than it still had an elevator attendant.

I love this thing. I can't imagine it's used much.  I imagine it was once often used.  I wonder why they would choose now to demolish it?

Well the area won't be getting any better with CityLink moving in.  Great photos, thanks!

Dude...that lot with the Cinci. Bengals truck... that is the oddest shaped lot I'vev ever seen. How did they accummilate so much junk in that narrow space?

Another amazing set of photos.

This area is so intriguing to me.  It's so forgotten and abandoned on the surface, but there are also a ton of artists and galleries in the area.  An interesting area, to be sure.
