Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge Cassandra Collier-Williams said receiver Tim Collins, an attorney who is overseeing the operations and finances of the 484-room hotel on St. Clair Avenue, may proceed with plans to list the property for sale and to implement procedures to take bids. June 22, 20231 yr I decided I would visit Cleveland for next spring's eclipse. Not so fast, GI, as they used to say on 100-yen alley. The Westin, Residence Inn, Key Marriott, Aloft, Crown Plaza, and Renaissance are already sold out for 7-9 April period. Remember: It's the Year of the Snake

September 13, 20231 yr I have my travel agent looking for rooms for a client the weekend of 9/23. Between the Browns, Guardians and other events here are some of the responses: Intercontinental: $449 Metropolitan at the 9: Sold Out Ritz Carlton: Sold Out Westin: Sold out on 9/23. Doubletree Lakeside: $371.50 Hotel Indigo: $449 Aloft: $629 Bad problems for me...but good for Cleveland! Probably worth mentioning in the Browns thread as they do generate economic activity.

October 17, 20231 yr Cleveland welcomed nearly 18 million visitors in 2022, almost back to pre-pandemic levels Published: Oct. 17, 202 By Susan Glaser, cleveland.com "CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland region welcomed nearly 18 million visitors in 2022, up 12% from a year earlier, but still down from the record number of travelers in 2019. Destination Cleveland announced Tuesday that the region’s tourism industry continues to rebound from the huge drop-off in visitors during the COVID pandemic. Cuyahoga County welcomed 17.9 million visitors in 2022 – a combination of leisure, business and group travelers -- who spent a record $6.4 billion while they were in town. ... David Gilbert, president and CEO of Destination Cleveland, said the region is on pace to exceed 2019 levels in the next year or two, with continued strong hotel occupancy figures, conference bookings and some major events planned for the city in 2024, including the NCAA Women’s Final Four tournament in April and the Pan-American Masters Games in July." https://www.cleveland.com/travel/2023/10/cleveland-welcomed-nearly-18-million-visitors-in-2022-almost-back-to-pre-pandemic-levels.html

April 6, 20241 yr the sun's beautiful, willowy corona will get the most attention during the eclipse, but also look for the brief/striking 'bailey's beads' feature -- Will we see Baily’s beads during solar eclipse in NE Ohio? by: Laura Morrison Posted: Feb 23, 2024 CLEVELAND (WJW) — With Northeast Ohio in the path of totality for the upcoming solar eclipse, it’s important to understand exactly what we’ll be seeing when things go dark. Come April 8 — also the date of the Guardians Home Opener — some things FOX 8 viewers have been wondering include: what exactly are we going to see, and what in the heck are Baily’s beads? According to NASA, the Baily’s beads effect happens “when gaps in the Moon’s rugged terrain allows sunlight to pass through in some places just before the total phase of the eclipse.” They’ll look like balls of light on the side of eclipse and shouldn’t last long. more: https://fox8.com/news/will-we-see-bailys-beads-during-solar-eclipse-in-ne-ohio/

With the Med Marts 250,000 sf added to the "original" convention center, it is now about 700,000sf, which is closer to Indy's 933k sf, but still way smaller than Columbus's 1.8million SF. Continuous open floor space for the larger conventions is still way smaller.
