I will be in San Antonio the 18-21 for a conference... I will probably only have time on sunday from probably 10-3 to explore the city...what recomendations does anyone have...i have been to san antonio once but was unable to explore the city.. i will have my camera, but no car.

Here are some suggestions

1.  RiverWalk & the Boat ride (I forgot actual name of the boat ride)

2. The Alamo

3.  King William Area/District

4.  Tower of America's

5. Southtown

6. San Juan Capistrano

7. El Mercado

EDIT:

8.  San Franco's/San Francisco church (I can't remember correct the name)

I can't think of anything else, if I do I'll update this.

I wouldn't suggest Sea World (which I've never been to this park), the zoo or the botanical gardens/museams as they pail in comparison to Cleveland's - but that's just my opinion.

If you only have five hours, don't bother doing the Alamo, at least more than seeing the facade.

The Riverwalk ride is great because you wind through much of the city and many prominent buildings are pointed out. There is a bus that takes you to two missions, the market/mercado, and the King William area; I'd suggest that if you are w/o a car, it took three hours, I believe. The boat is only 25 or so minuets and you easily can walk to the bus tour office from the docking areas.

If you do go see the Alamo, make sure to ask if you can see the basement.

What's in the basement?

That is where Francis supposedly is hiding Pee Wee Herman's bike.  Jan Hooks can tell you how to get in there.  Can you say "A D O B E"?

SHHHHHHH!

thanks for the input...i will have pictures when i get back

with just five hours i'd say make sure you walk around the riverwalk. you can pop up and down to see diff parts of the downtown as you walk around it.

if you wander over by the alamodome, check out the renovated train station, sunset station.

one of my fav restaurants is EL MIRADOR, just south of downtown. also look around for for puffy tacos.

oh yeah, and when you order your lone star or shiner bock beer order it "dressed" - thats texas style - they give the top of the longneck bottle a half-roll in salt.
