Posted January 11, 200718 yr What the hell? Euclid Beach Park arch damaged www.WKYC.com January 11, 2007 CLEVELAND -- A piece of local history in shambles this morning at Euclid Beach Park. The Euclid Beach arch at East 158th and Lakeshore was heavily damaged after a driver crashed into the monument early Thursday morning. It's not sure what time the accident happened. January 11, 200718 yr i cant believe they never put those steel bumper poles around it! oh well, it was an accident what can you do? at least it can be fixed.
January 12, 200718 yr Almost certainly a drunk driver, who will lay low until he/she can pass, and then will claim that the SUV was stolen.
January 14, 200718 yr oh no, looks like it has to be torn down? can someone get over there with a camera asap!!! link: http://www.newsnet5.com/news/10723881/detail.html
March 19, 200718 yr The arch is beautiful, but its context makes the potential for its loss less depressing. Perhaps they could salvage the left tower at least?
March 20, 200718 yr other way around. the tower is perfectly in context. the old folks apts are whats out of context. i have no idea but from the pics it looks like it could be fixed to me. if not what a shame, that's all thats left of such a big part of local history.
June 5, 200718 yr It was on the news, and they had video. I'm not in Cleveland right now, but maybe in a few days.
June 18, 200717 yr It looks like they added a little traffic island in the middle of the drive, as well as painted the sign and worked on the landscaping.
June 18, 200717 yr I saw a video of it on the news too. They did a good job with the repair. Nice pictures, too. Except for the last one with the, what appears to be, boarded up Pizza Smut.
June 19, 200717 yr thx for the update mov. nice repair work, but too bad they are right back where they started -- with no protective steel bumper posts around it someone is going to hit it again.
