Damn, the German Village vid is awesome!

Dang, no Old Town East videos yet. =( I just got an apartment there.

Amazing old architecture, cheap rent. I just wish more people weren't afraid to visit there more often because of their preconceived ideas of what the areas like. Some parts are sketchy, but the area is really changing for the better.

There is a multitude of like-minded videos like that those above on You Tube (I was scrolling the right sidebar and saw one for Kenwood, one for Shaker Heights/Cleveland Heights, one for Strongsville/Berea/North Royalton/Parma Heights, etc).

LMAO!!! Seriously, who does Hilliard think its fooling?

:?

You have to keep in mind, these are real-estate videos.  Realtors have made an art out of making crummy places sound great.  That's not to say any of these neighborhoods are bad, most of them are really nice (my favorite being German Village).

But I agree with what some have said regarding Hilliard.  It's not a bad place, but it certainly is nothing like what is depicted in the video.  I lived and worked in Hilliard for a little over a year.  Most long time residents I talked with told me that it used to be very nice but has gone downhill from its population boom.  I actually had an employee get mugged for his wallet on his way to work in one of the ok areas...and that was in the middle of the day.  He ended up having to go to the ER.  And thieves also busted down the door to where I worked in an attempt to steal the safe.

Basically living in German Village, I chuckled a little when I saw the video.  Things are definitely more community oriented here than just about anywhere else, but I kinda shook my head at the clarinet player.

Then, this weekend I was walking through Schiller Park and enjoyed a guy playing a mean banjo by a fountain.  Maybe it's not so far off.

I was refering to the old town feeling they gave Hilliard. Hilliard doesn't have a lot of crme or anything, it's just that the majority of Hilliard does not look like that. I'll give Hilliard props for having a Skyline Chili though. It's funny...I don't care what neighborhood someone is trying to promote, they always use the lines "nice place to raise a family" and "everybody knows everybody". German Village is one of the few city neighborhoods like that. I was amazed by the number of people that said hi to me as I passed them on the street. Anywhere else, people put their head down or look the other way as you pass them to avoid any kind of interaction..(most people have no social skills). I went to Schiller Park and it was packed with people. There wasn't any special event or anything, just people playing frisbee and walking around. It really does seem like everyone's backyard.
