Sunday, Feb. 20th was the day for the Historic Gateway District and Historic Warehouse District's "I Love Downtown" event. Over a dozen properties had open houses and Lolly the Trolley (that Cleveland institution!) toted everyone around to different sites. According to Tom Starinsky of the Warehouse District, they had a surprisingly good turnout considering the weather (cold, snowy, and no doubt contributing to my upper respiratory issues today - blech!). But I managed to get a lot of pics of some of the properties - I'll try to add info about cost/amenities/etc. when I can.

First - an overhead map of the places I managed to see (I didn't have time to see all of the open properties, though). Apologies to Richard Wyner who contributed the image to my site:

The tour started on East 4th - this shot shows the street before a bunch of improvements. The Pickwick and Frolick complex (restaurant, comedy club) was the registration point:

First up, the Sincere Building (for sale condos) - http://www.progressiveurban.com/sincere/sincereIndex.html.

Lobby:

Views from suite (this one was selling for $359K):

Fyi, I think the apartments in this building (Buckeye Building - with Flannery's Irish pub on the first floor) start around $600 for a 1-bedroom:

Bedroom with funky one-blade ceiling fan:

And a peek-a-boo view of National City Center:

Second model suite in the Sincere Building (I believe the price was $299K):

We then walked up East 4th Street to the Frederick at Fourth building (rental apartments):

Some of the suites have spiral staircases:

A few in the Frederick have these funky lofted spaces (original beams of the building):

Then we waited for Lolly to take us to the Warehouse District:

And I noticed this building with the funky fire escape - condos available (they weren't open for the tour):

There's Lolly! Wait - it's her sibling Rolly!

And our first stop in the Warehouse District, the Bradley Building, one of the very first buildings in the district to be renovated. The one rental unit that was open goes for $1300 a month.

Yes, that's Pinnacle - according to the person showing the apartment, Pinnacle is scheduled for an "April/May" opening. Hey, I'm just glad it's still going forward!

Beautiful bathroom (and still manages to have exposed brick):

Back down to the lobby and on to Part 2!

Great tour MayDay.  That perspective of the Pinnacle rally shows how nice the condo's will be.  E 4th will be even nicer when those other three restaurants open up.

Those buildings are so neat, great job.

sincere building......bah, i managed to sleep in one!

i'd live in any of those, for sure (if i lived in cleveland(and had the money))

The Sincere Building looks pretty nice on the inside.  Views from the Bradley Building are amazing.

Very nice, looks like the Cincy Downtown Living Tour I did this past fall.  They even had the same ballon thingers by the entrance way.

  • 1 year later...

Just had another look at this thread and remembered how excited I was to see it while I was still living in Brooklyn, NY...  thought I'd send it to the top of the list with a new reply!

So can MayDay take some credit for bringing you back to Ctown?

I'll give him somewhere around 1%.  I'll give Urban Ohio on the whole about 5% credit.  The Levin College, about 20%.  Friends and Family, about 25%.  The combination of growing up here, loving the city, missing it, and wanting to replant my roots here with my girl all account for the remaining 50%.  I'll give you 1% of that UO 5% too, KJP!

Aw shucks.  8-)
