Here are a few pictures that were taken back in the early 90's when I was in college.

 

This was the beginning of the regeneration and renaissance of Miami Beach. Just a few years prior, Miami Beach was a run down, crime ridden, undesirable city.

 

Strict preservation laws have preserved most of the historic Art Deco District. Today it is a worldwide destination.

I need to do a before and after of this one. Today it is bustling almost 24hrs a day. This was one of the first blocks to be rehabbed. You can see boarded up storefronts down the next block. Today they are filled with stores, restaurants, offices, and night clubs.

Beautiful buildings!  I'm glad great efforts have been taken to preserve them.

The Art Deco District of Miami Beach is one of my favorite locations in the country.  It's just awesome.
