Posted January 29, 200718 yr A year and a half ago, I went to Los Angeles to visit my sister, and we and her friends decided to take a trip down to San Diego. I was tripod-less when I took these so there might be a bit of blur to some of the images since I don't have a very steady hand. Also, I hope you don't mind me posting them big  It's a bit easier to see the action in them. I have a ton more, but being that my hard drive is so disorganized, I only have the ones I've posted on my flickr. When I find them I'll post. Enjoy!
January 29, 200718 yr I was down in San Diego last weekend and it's a great place to visit. The downtown is very, very healthy and there is some beautiful natural scenery. I can't believe you got those shots without a tripod... Lots of Gaslamp Quarter in there? Little Italy is nice too.
January 29, 200718 yr Beautiful shots! I love San Diego. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
January 29, 200718 yr excellent night shots. no tripod? whaat? wow. i want to like san diego nightlife, but i like ohio cities nightlife better. sure gaslamp is nice to walk around in, the weather is always good, but the joints are eh. i guess i do like hanging out on the roof of the w hotel there tho. outside of nightlife i will say san diego is my fav city for biking all over, nice neighborhoods, beach nabes and urban bike trails. whenever we have to go there first thing i do is get a bike!
January 30, 200718 yr We actually stayed at the hotel in the top picture. The rooftop area is really nice. But yeah, no tripod. It was all the camera. It was about two weeks old by then so the image stablizer was at its best. Doesn't work all that great now though.
January 30, 200718 yr I'm going to a conference in San Diego this April and have a reservation at the Hotel Solamar in the first picture - since you stayed there before, am I making a good choice? Some comments on tripadvisor.com complained about excessive noise from the pool and rooftop bar - I like some partying myself, but also have to be in shape for a meeting every AM at 8:00. Marriott, Hyatt, and Hilton Garden are sold out - the W looks a little far from the convention center, or I'd stay there - the Horton Grand is close but looks a little too frou-frou Victorian for my tastes. This picture frightened me off in a big way: Owners Dori and John Rose invite you to explore the extravagant possibilities that await you at the Horton Grand Hotel
January 30, 200718 yr I was tripod-less when I took these so there might be a bit of blur to some of the images since I don't have a very steady hand. I'LL be the judge of that. Nice shots. I can smell the booze wafting on the warm night air.
January 30, 200718 yr The hotel was very nice. As far as the noise, I didn't notice. Our room did overlook the roofdeck. Then again when I got back to the hotel room, I pretty much just passed out. But the rooms are very nice. Very bold contemporary colors too. I have some pictures of the lobby, but like I said they are buried on my hard drive somewhere. BTW, in the lobby they have these cool stones you can draw on with water.
January 31, 200718 yr Ahhh...now thats what I'm talking about!!! Looks great...I really need to go on a westcoast swing!
February 15, 200718 yr Awsome photos. I love the architectural lighting in some of them. Looks nice right about now, since we are currently digging out from under a foot of snow.
