We stopped in Bar 89 for lunch - good food, funky decor, decent prices - did I mention funky decor?

Practicing my paparazzi skills, I saw these people in a window across the street from Bar 89. What could they be talking about?

Wow, first ever mention of Bar 89 without reference to the bathrooms.  Well done.

Beautiful shots as always Mayday.

This bldg is one of the GREAT classics in NYC and all of America imo (not speaking of ESB)!

Dude, you took pictures of Bryant Park, BP Hotel, ES Bldg, the New BOA Building (the soon to be tallest and most green in NYC), but didn't take one stinking picture of my building?!!  You had to stand infront my building to take some of those shots.  Where is the love?

You could have called me, I would have come down for a photo op  lol  :wink2:

yeah, and where was the picture of my overpriced tenement building, with overflowing trash cans in the front encircled by rats, and filled with obnoxious, disrespectful, spoiled NYU students whose parents shell out tens of thousands of dollars annually to send them to what is probably the most overrated school on earth?

...but otherwise the pictures are excellent. I too thought the Times Square Westin was rather gaudy at first, until I found out it was designed by the ultra-hip firm Arquitectonica of Miami (ha ha). Come to think of it, weren't they "so 20 years ago?" I guess I've just gotten used to looking at it. I suppose it was intended as a bright, whimsical antidote to the historically menacing nature (a la 70's & 80's) of the Port Authority neighborhood...as per the beautiful Sephora, that building housed the classic, richly detailed Scribner's bookstore for decades, with its mezzanine and arcade-like interior. Alas, all the great old bookstores on Fifth Avenue are now gone (maybe public libraries will start lending cosmetics to those who find Sephora unaffordable).
