The Greene is nice to visit the same way Pyongyang would be nice to visit...interesting, but everyone is walking around aimlessly wondering when the whole thing is going to fold.

While I personally don't think the thing will fold (I'm actually more worried about the Fairfield Commons Mall), I do get where you are coming from with the whole promise of upscale stores.  It's almost a fool's gold kind of thing.  It looks pretty on the surface (paper), but underneath its just another rock (or lifestyle center).  I doubt anything on the scale of Easton will come here.  Whoever figured that (which obviously includes our Dear City Leaders) bought into a bait and switch ploy.  Maybe Steiner had good intentions, but in the end there's just no way Dayton's market could support anything really high end.  And when I mean high end I mean Mark Shale, Polo Raulph Lauren, etc...  You could possibly see the same thing happen with the Liberty Town Center when it comes to stores.  Especially when companies have the already established Deerfield Town Center and Kenwood Mall.  Now for a positive.  One of the few things I do like about the concept is the residential and office spaces.  Both of those have been doing really well.

I guess I can't gripe too much since Steiner's company is paying me for my studies.  Take that as you may.

OK! lol... One of us has the wrong impression of 'high end'. Not to offend anyone, but I consider Mark Shale, Polo Raulph Lauren, etc...to be as generic as any other... Don't get me wrong now, Polo Ralph Lauren is one of my favorite brands & has been since I was a kid but I don't consider them high end.

I see what you're both saying.  There are only a few Polo Ralph Lauren stores around the globe with many more factory outlets (three of which are in Ohio).  So it's high-end when it comes to setting up a store but readily available through department stores.

The greene is sort of a let down, i would have loved to see a saks fifth avenue or neiman marcus. There is not much out there for us men, i was hoping that the Greene would be a mockerey of the Easton but its not

Its a good version of Easton in physical form, but, yes, the retail mix isnt the same.

Damn, now where am i going to get my thigh-highs and thongs!

^^^January 27th seems like an odd time to shutter the doors of an intimate apparel store with Valentine's Day just two weeks away.

Developer plans 18 townhomes at The Greene

Dayton Business Journal - by Tom Demeropolis DBJ Staff

The Greene has been a success in more ways than one. The $250 million-plus development in Beavercreek has brought top-notch retailers into the area. A number of businesses have moved or are planning to move into its office space. And the residential component of The Greene is 100 percent leased with a waiting list for apartments above the town center’s retail shops.

^Yuck.

Saw the signs for this on a visit there a month or so ago when I was walking out to the parking garage. Makes me wonder if the owners of the apartment complex located behind the Greene would be willing to pay big cash to have a road from the Greene extended to their property so that they could market their housing the same way.....
