Posted February 14, 200718 yr Here are a few shots I snapped on my way to get a hot cup of coffee on this frigid morning.
February 14, 200718 yr I always have to laugh at the "Watch for two way traffic" signs. Great pics, I like all the glossy colors! I'm not sure about how they painted the building with the C in the entablature, however. Keep them coming!
February 14, 200718 yr Bah! That's just a dusting! Seriously though - great pics! clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
February 14, 200718 yr Thanks for the alley pic I have recently found the alleys are the way to go in ice & slush in OTR.

February 14, 200718 yr I can't believe people are actually using the phrase "Gateway Urban Living Quarter." Nice pics.
February 14, 200718 yr Kaldis also has nice coffee, but it is a block away from the gateway urban living quarter
February 15, 200718 yr The alley shot was awesome. Nice to see you guys down there in Cincy got a "training snow." "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
February 15, 200718 yr Wow, Kendall these are fantastic. I love the contrast between the building colors and snow. Were these taken with your new camera?
February 15, 200718 yr Really cool pics. I rode the 17 today down through there and noticed how nice it looks with all the snow.
February 15, 200718 yr Who really doesn't know about the Gateway urban living quarter? http://www.gatewayquarter.com/index.html
February 15, 200718 yr That name won't stick. Hell's Kitchen in Manhattan has been through a couple of renamings, but who these days refers to the area as 'Clinton' or 'Midtown West?'
February 15, 200718 yr I love how the bldgs are turning out in the *trumpets sound* Gateway Urban Living Quarter! Very nice!
February 15, 200718 yr I cant wait to see what Cincinnati will look like after alot of work, it has many advantages, and could get alot off of tourism.
February 15, 200718 yr All this needs to really make this corner kick ass is a nice new building on the parking lot where the photo was taken! And in more good news, it looks like 3CDC's holding company, OTR Holdings INC. owns the lot, possible new development once these all sell??? That would really make this entrance to OTR killer.
February 15, 200718 yr a nice development there would really round out the gateway urban living quarter.
February 15, 200718 yr Great pics! I'm really excited about the work 3cdc is doing in Over-the-Rhine. Here is a map of The Gateway Quarter:
February 15, 200718 yr Are you guys being paid by 3CDC to call part of OTR the Gateway Urban Living Quarter?
February 15, 200718 yr Who really doesn't know about the Gateway urban living quarter? http://www.gatewayquarter.com/index.html Probably just about everyone who doesn't live in Cincinnati, who recently moved to Cincinnati, or who live in the suburbs and couldn't find downtown Cincinnati with the aid of a map. Never assume your audience knows what you know. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
February 16, 200718 yr by the way, 3cdc owns literally hundreds of properties in OTR, hopefull they will expand the gateway urban living quarter.
February 16, 200718 yr Perhaps, but I think 3cdc is specifying the area centered around the Gateway Condominiums. And I may be wrong, but I think they are calling it simply "The Gateway Quarter."

Never assume your audience knows what you know. Never heard of it. I always called it, "down around 12th st between Vine and Race" Gateway Urban Living Quarter sounds like a place where you would see a lot of guys in grey uniforms marching around asking for your papers.
February 16, 200718 yr I think the Gateway Urban Living Quarter references here have all been tongue-in-cheek, especially considering the phrase was unleashed on the public about three days ago.

February 16, 200718 yr You're probably one of the most sarcastic people on this forum, thomasbw. God Bless You. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
February 16, 200718 yr Here's a before picture of the Duncanson Lofts, part of the Gateway Urban Living Quarter (shamelessly lifted from step2me's Midwest! thread: http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php?topic=11971.0)
February 16, 200718 yr To go back to what Monte said, as some cities have the "Latin Quarter" or the "Jewish Quarter", we should have named it like the "Catholic Quarter". I'm just kiding . . . I don't mind "Gateway Quarter" but "Gateway Living Quater" is stupid. No need to put "Living" in there as it should be implied all over the city no matter what the darn "Quarter".
February 16, 200718 yr I don't think it's really called that. The website says "Gateway Quarter: Urban Living" as a slogan. People are being sarcastic about this, but don't underestimate the importance of this project. If Vine Street is rejuvenated, it make development throughout the urban center so much easier. From The Banks, Mulberry Hill, Corryville, and Clifton Heights: all of these areas will see the benefit.
